Well here would be the seeding based on winning percentage if the season ended today.
1. Padres .929 2. NS Yanks* .800 (head-to-head) 3. N Dodgers .800 4. Cubs .733 5. Giants .714 6. Orioles .643 7. Red Sox .600 8. NS Angels .333
This may change tonight as the NS Yanks & AE Angels go at it. The NS Yankees have clinched a tourney spot but the two game separate the NS Angels and NS Braves for the final spot.
The Orioles, Sox, Dodgers and Giants appear to be locks. The battle in AE for the number two spot may go down to the wire with only 2 1/2 games separating the three teams. The AE Yanks and Angels have some rainouts to make up.

Thats incorrect. The winner of the division between the Red Sox and Orioles will get the 4 seed.

No thats not what was agreed to. Two teams from each league advance. Seeding is based on winning percentage, head-to-head, runs allowed, runs for and then a coin flip if needed. This is all subject to board approval.

But you put the division winners 1 thu 4. by their win% then the 2nd place teams 5 thru 8.

This is the fairest way to address the inequalities in the leagues and give you the best team overall.

HUH? Dude you show me anywhere in the history of any sport that has divisions and a playoff format that a team that finishes second gets a higher seed then a division winner in the playoffs.
I know my grammar sucks there but oh well.

I can't. The only thing I can say is this is a tournament and seeding has to account for the inequities in the leagues I suppose. Lets be real the Angels are going and two very good teams from AE will not.

True, But that doesn't matter. You see that all the time in sports where better teams are left out of the playoffs because of the division they are in. I think this whole thing will blow up if you try that seeding.

Why would it? Its a tournament not a playoff. Eight teams made it and should be seeded based on the records.

You can call it what ever you want but it still is a playoff for the City Championship. I gotta go we can debate this tonight at the game
