Chris, I believe what Mark is saying is that the gun is pointed at home plate in each case but has another 6 feet to travel on the big mound and will lose speed in those six feet... So a kid clocked at 75 on a 54 will lose a few mph's in the next 6 feet when he moves back. But yep, 82 is 82!! lol

exactly!!
if you point the gun to the place where the ball leaves the hand then ya you will get 82 whether its 46 feet or 100 ft......its getting the ball at home plate or near home plate.. where the ball will be losing velocity.........
Rodney, a heavy ball is what i consider a ball that has sinking action and/or carries its velocity to the plate.....a ball that explodes into the bat rather than the bat into the ball...............many groundball outs are a way to measure how heavy the pitches are

Mark...Thanks for the baseball knowledge..Whats most exciting is watching the development of the players. We decided on TB rather than Juniors and I'm glad we did, lot's of very good competition coming to local Tourney's----we will soon see as the 13U age moves to 14U in August and onto a 60/90 Diamond.......we are lucky as we will have another year ( 09 ) to continue to work on baseball skills before HS.

Who the hell is "Coach Payne"? Rumors are swirling that he was offered the THS varsity job. I guess he is a teacher at TJHS.

Those that remember 2 years back The PITMAN STAFF including Coach Payne put on a Clinic for N/NS at Valley Oaks School, as Mark said he was the Pitching Coach for Pitman, as I remember a very knowledgeable guy.

I hear he's made a hellofa first impression. Apparently, he had his lock cut off the field today. Don't mess with the football guys this time of year.
