Good Lord someone needs to tell Robyn that Sandlot is a MOVIE!!
Why would a BOD member attack her own program publicly. No wonder our numbers are lacking. GEEZ!

Chris goes to show you what kind of people we have trying to run our league, not that they are all bad. These people I feel are there for the wrong reason and not to help the kids. I had a long talk with Bob Berry on Tuesday and he says that this is the worst he has ever seen it and I asked him, I thought it was suppose to be all about the kids and he stated it has not been that way for about 10 years. As I recall it is not illegal to make trades and try to accomodate kids that want to play for certain teams or certain coaches. Our BOD put in alot of hard work this time of year and goes without being notice. I want to say thank you for that but then again it is like the old saying there is always one or two bad apples in the bunch. Thank the BOD for their hard work and devotion to the kids of the community. Before you write something like this you should be involved more with the league than a couple of years and try and make a name for yourself at the expense of others.

I agree totally Tony. When things are going great few board members get "atta boys" but when things go badly everyone gets painted with the same brush. On the same note, 95% of the managers and coaches are here for the right reasons and are also working very hard. I get a little tired of having the integrity of manager/coaches questioned on a regular basis.
Its worse this year than I ever remember.

I wouldn't call it an epiphany! lol It certainly didn't sting... It was, however, a revelation of character.
And is "travel ball" such a bad thing? It seemed to me that was what she inferred...
It seems to me, too, that players have always desired the "hot" product - whether it is was a Babe Ruth autographed model glove, a Mickey Mantle signature wood bat, a Stealth, or a Catalyst. I don't believe that's changed through the eras, has it? Wanting to wear the same jerseys as the pros is nothing new either. It's only natural that our youngsters want to emulate their heroes. It doesn't seem that long ago kids were making basket catches ala the Say Hey Kid or flapping their arm wildly like Joe Morgan.
Despite what some may think, I believe that Turlock Little League has much to be proud of and is a great experience for kids. Over the last year or so we have healed old wounds between A/AE and N/NS. We will be playing each other again and sharing fields for the first time in ages and everyone I know, parents, players and coaches alike, are excited about it. It seems we are on the verge of having the first City Championship Tournament and everyone is excited about that as well. It will involve MORE teams and players than the TOC, keep revenue in town, create excitement even for those that don't make it to the tournament, and that is nothing short of awesome.
Many of our players love the "game" so much that they have joined travel teams and continue to play after the Little League season. And the coaches of these teams, who are Little League coaches as well, continue to donate their time to make this happen. And all the changes that are taking place in Turlock LL is done to a large degree by parents and I don't see this volunteerism as only wanting to help their kids... The hours put in by these civil leaders benefits all our youth. We have built bridges this off season - so when the question is posed, "What's Happening to Turlock Little League" my answer is GREAT things! And I am proud to be a part of it!
I applaud everyone whose positive energy, time and vision have made this happen.

I can't even respond as you have said it all so well. We started talking about interleague here on the fourm and at travel ball dinners following numerous tournaments. I thinks it got its legs during the travel ball season. Isn't it interesting that the travel ball enthusiasts are also the same folks who work the hardest during the LL season.
It is about the love of the game and the love of the kids. Now I think I'll go trade my comfort in retirement for some of newest state of the art baseball equipment to undermind my son's joy of the game.

If this lady feels so passionately about the kids I can respect that but without going into details about an unfortunate incident last year which I have already agreed to put it in the past and move on I will say this.....she was one of the board members who decided to look the other way and do nothing to protect a child from a coach who decided to play head games with a kid just to get the advantage. Most people will probably be wondering what in the hell I'm talking about but if she reads this and I hope she does, she will know exactly what I'm referring to. She has lost all credability with me and I can go on and on about it but I'll stop with.......people like her are the problem and she should have done the right thing when she had the chance. As a board member to slam her organization she should be ashamed of her actions from last year as well as her comments Saturday. Bottom line......she's a joke, move on.

One more thing to get off my chest.....she needs to be consistant with her convictions and not say it is o.k. for one coach to do the same crap that she accuses another of. She is proof that she has a click that she ignores their crap and climbs up on her soap box and publicly barks about the other click. Keep it consistent and I will respect it, if not freedom of speech goes both ways.

I'd say resign but its really not for me to say. One must be careful however that one's halo doesn't fall around one's neck.

Hi My Friends,
I would like to think that the people (both adults & players) I have met over the number of years on & off the field were or are friends of mine. Now through the year's many of my friends that I have made have not always agreed with me nor have I agreed with them on issues that have crossed our paths. Regardless I would never put that friend or person down for their thoughts whether I agreed or did not agree. Anytime someone put's in the time to help out our program & make it workable, I will always support them for helping out. Let's don't forget why we are here, to give our players a chance to play a game that most of them love to play and keep them off the streets. Yes, there may be a player or two who may be disppointed now & then but let's face it, that's life. As I have always told all of my player's that I have coached, sometimes life isn't fair. Blue's & coaches may make a wrong call but it is not the end of the world. You have to go to school tomorrow & I have to go to work. A good friend of mine asked me one day, if I could video tape myself & looked at it at the end of the day, would I do the same things or say the same things again the next day? Probably not. So I say to you, "Have you ever said anything that maybe you wish you could re-word or maybe not said it at all? I have watched many of you (my friends) come & go as board members or coaches & watched a number of others who didn't agree with your thoughts. So I say to you, "Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones." Don't forget why we are here, for all of these players. This is not a perfect system or world. Let's try to work together in a positive direction. If I am in error for my actions or what I have said, I would be the first to acknowledge my mistake.

Paul - You said a lot without saying anything. I'm not sure where you stand on this but I will say as a board member you don't help things by slamming your own organization in the newspaper.
Its not alway ok to just go along and accept things. Sometime you have to step up and call things as you see them. Now if a board member publicly slams our coaches its time to step up.

I agree with Paul mostly. I know that there have been times when my mouth went faster then my brain. But mainly I want to address the "It's for the kids". I hate it when a parent throws this at me. I want to say, yeah it is, but unfortunately, the people who normally says this, means just the opposite. When people like Paul and Tony Lema and me and most of us old timers are still around, it is easy to say, well, they really like baseball because they are still involved without having kids involved. But to be honest, I like baseball because I like watching the littlest ones play. The 8 and 9s. Tony likes the big kids, and I know that Paul likes to ump and I am sure he has his favorites also. And I have missed naming a lot of people who volunteer without having a child in the program, but they to have their reasons why they are involved. But it isn't just for the kids. It is also for the adults. Adults do not volunteer unless they have a need to be met. I like doing things for kids and I like seeing kids playing baseball. That is why I like being player agent so much. It is the one job most involved with getting the players signed up. Tony likes rules, and ordering things like a purchasing agent. So that is why he likes to do uniforms and he is the go to guy about rules. That is his thing. Some of you really like sharing your knowledge of the sport, some like to ump, some like the concession stand, it is all different. Yeah, there is a lot of the adults with a personal agenda, and that has to be watched, but the people who are around for a long time, it is normally because LL is meeting a need for them. So it isn't always just about the kids, but it is always about the Kids in us. If the person is 8 years old, or 28 years old, 38, 48, 58, 68 years old it is about the kid in us. That is what LL is. Meeting the need of the Kid in all of us.

OK - did anyone read the paper? My issue isn't someone's opinion its that person's tactic of slamming our local league in the papaer.
