Any decision that has controversy always needs to have a communication plan to get this information out fully informing the community or constituency of what has been reviewed. That would typically be the next step. This is nothing knew and is very common place. That is all I was referring to.

Pedro ~
How can anyone interpret this any other way? I have no idea what you mean from "Presidency to now." I never would have tried to muzzle a member of the BOD. Anyway, I suggest you all be vigilant to assure you as a board don't become heavy handed and pedantic.

Scrapper,
I did not interpret Mel's comments as you did. However, after Chris emailed it again. I can see how it can be? With respect to posting minutes ask Chris for a Website location and a adm. password to post minutes on the web page. I think this is very appropriate. Minutes should only be posted after being accepted and voted on after each of the monthly meetings.
Perhaps this discussion can continue with community input. If you as a BOD Member are interested in revisiting this agenda item then you should begin to email each of the BOD members for further discussion for the January 4th Meeting. And, perhaps request it from the Prez. I do not know the protocol on this but sounds like there are some unresolved issues.
IN THE MEANTIME I WILL TRY TO FOCUS ON MY COACHING COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES. ...SOOOOOO.
Again....no one today has a team officially the vote happens on January 4th. However, I continue to remind those interested get your paperwork in. We are very likely to expand teams so we will have a greater demand for parent coaches. Start early. Visit the Website, download the volunteer form, complete it and fax with photo ID to 575-6922. Thanks again.

BTW - the agenda for such a hot botton issue should have been posted in advance. I expect there will be some very angry parents/kids and at least offering to allow them to be heard may have been advisiable. Hell Chris, we barely had a enough people show up when we voted in the new board. We had to make phone calls just to get enough people there to have an election. you would think parents would have been a little concerned over who was on the board now they want to Hottie when we made a VERY TOUGH decision. To make an accusation that board members were looking out for them self's is BULLSHIT. Looking out for you own interest is not letting the 11's play with the 12's in All Stars then the next year take 2 because it might help your team. Nobody wants to redraft the league but it's the only fair thing to do when you have to add 3 or 4 teams.

Right, I was a coach not a board member and as a coach that was my job. I had no VOTE or did you forget that? Do you want me to apologize for making a compelling argument in favor of my position? That was a board decision Jim.
I guarantee if the board had properly informed the membership you would have had several members at that meeting.

I believe Mel is pointing out that managers and coaches get voted in on January 4th provided their volunteer form and photo ID documents are in. I wonder if any of you realize, you don't have the teams yet. You have not been nominated or voted on. Some of the things said on this forum shows true character, and that may have an impact on votes. Melody sorry pedro, but that sounds like a threat

It looks like we have morphed into the American-American East side now. The forum has turned into an extension of the board meeting with all the bickering going back and forth. Chris..It looks like I have passed my torch as the forum's PITA over to you. Enjoy it my friend it's a lot of fun I don't see Mel's coaching comments as a threat. She was just expressing the way she might vote on the managers and coaches. The entire board votes and she is only 2 votes. Rumor has it some kids from the dark side of town might be moving over to our side to get a fresh start. The more the merrier.

No, I think with your comments about A/AE you have managed to retain your PITA status Jim. LOL at Mel's 2 votes though. If I'm a PITA then I'll wear it. All I did was tell the truth about how the board screwed this one up.

Agreed Jim. Longday and I myself got sucked into this forum reacting a hot topic. I disagree that BOD has screwed this up. There is no win in how we react to this situation.
Options Available Were:
1) Do not Worry about Parity and Do nothing sucking all the twelves to a maximum number. You hurt the expansion teams big time as Giants, Dodgers, Dbacks, Braves walk all over the league.
2) Redraft for parity creating issues with teams that have been playing together. There were variations here that were discussed.
3) Returning Teams give up picks for Parity through the 4 round. Provides an opportunity for Expansion teams to build a crop of good players. No one was interested last meeting.
4) I am sure there are others.
No matter what decision is made it is one that is the best of all evils. AE and AM may or may not be in the same boat based on the number of 12 they anticipate returning. However, the number is high on our side.
I would like to here from more folks other than our usual suspects. Thanks.
PS: In terms of the rest of the discussion. I would ask fellow BOD Members to control their language and how they engage in this community forum as it does come back to reflect on the league. Thanks.
BOD Comments have three possible interpretrations positive, negative and nuetral. Only one is acceptable.

Pedro ~
A 5-4 vote is hardly a mandate. The Boards failure to inform the membership or solicit our input is absolutely inappropriate. The question you should be asking is, "why wasn't this meeting announced?"
Again a 5-4 vote is not a mandate especially since one of the votes is always pre-decided.
So go ahead and ignore the concerns raised as I really don't care. However, if you assume that a 5-4 decision means your taking the correct action your naive. Perhaps its time to call for a membership meeting.

Instead of all the bickering back and forth, why aren't people mad at Little League for implementing this new 12 year old rule without declaring any type of mandated solution for the cities that it affects? For the organization to demand new rules, there should be cut and dry instructions on how towns are supposed to reorganize the teams. If that was the case, we wouldn't be fighting amongst our grown-up selves. In the three years Nick has played Little League in Turlock, he has never been on a winning team. If he can accept that and still want to play every year, maybe the adults can learn a lesson or two. Who even knows what the numbers are going to be? Maybe there won't be the expected turnout and all of this will be for naught. So, lets stop the fighting and concentrate on making this season a good one for our kids.
Here we go again! Beth Benson

Hmm - I'm not sure your position in this but waiting to see how many kids turn out makes perfect sense to me. Ripping 60 kids away from there team mates and returning them to the draft doesn't make a lot of sense.

I never pretend to know the inner-workings of baseball, so I am on the fence regarding this new dynamic we are facing. I feel for the kids who expected to be on the same team as last year with the same coaches and whatnot. We, as a family, have been there and done that already last year, so this isn't unfamiliar for us. I believe the board passed the redraft to set the system up as fairly as possible for the years to come. I blame Little League International for our situation, not the board.

Your son's team wasn't redrafted last year. As far as the BOD creating a system that is fair as possible is just silly. How would any of us know as no meeting notice was given. Four well informed members disagreed with you. Mel brags about the vote she has in her pocket so how are you going to tell me that the right decision was made. The decision sure helped out the teams of the BOD members voting in the affirmative (with the exception of Pedro).
