It's Official. The N/NS board met last night and solved the 12 yrs old crisis based on the fact that National will be expanding by two to three teams and NS maybe one. The Board approved the following actions.
All existing Major League Players will be put back into the draft with Manager and Coaches Options. We are having two major league drafts.
The first draft is for all the existing players and the redistribution of 12 year olds. The second draft will be all of the new 12's first and then round out with 11 and 10.
There will be no common pool.
9 yr olds will not be eligible for the major leagues. 9 yr olds will only be allowed in AAA, which will leave the questions, will the AAA be drafted or assigned.
Any thoughts out there

Just a word of advice... DO not put your younger players into a draft..... No matter what you try and we have done it all, the best way with very little parent Hottieing is to do a lottery. with all the coaches there, and only managers will be with their kid. Coaches should be willing to help with what ever team lands their kid. And don't let the "He can only ride with little Johnny" work...If you do, parents will say you loaded up a team.... But hey JMO

Thanks Randy:
That is a good thought. We should probably think about it a little more.

I am so sad that my son has to be re-drafted. I may have to change my log in name and that does not make me very happy Scrapper, we were looking forward to a great Giants year. Who knows what will happen but we'll miss you, Cindy and the kids for sure if we end up on another team.

WHAT ABOUT MANAGERS AND COACHES THAT WERE TOGETHER LAST YEAR, DO THEY GET TO STAY TOGETHER? Yes. If the coaches meet the criteria from Little League they can stay on the same team(2 years as a coach in National or NS and with the last year being on that major team) BTW.. The Yankees are no more. The name has been changed to a MLB National League name. This goes for the Angels too.

Thanks Giantsmom, I'm still a little upset. The idea of giving up my six 12's for a different six 12's sucks. With the new look in the leagues the Dodgers and Nationals, and Diamondbacks should be in pretty good shape with coaches and managers options, based on what is coming back and where we pick, we might be able to get a couple of our 12's back, but I highly doubt it.
The Giants and the Cardinals will be totally revamped. On the National South Side, all of the teams will be revamped. What it boils down to based on this is you will have about 3 teams with a decent core players and 8 expansion teams.
Good Luck everyone. [glow=red,2,300]Go Giants! [/glow]

If you're going to redraft and allow coaches rights to prevail. I guess it works out ok for the Dodgers but as previously stated it doesn't sound fair. I think all the kids should be redrafted and the coaches should end up where ever they fall. Otherwise, it appears some board members are feathering their own nest. That would be a shame.

BTW - Did any of the smart board members show up or was it the same couple of yahoos who are always there?

I'm sure there are going to be quite a few upset people over this but this the only fair way to do it. As a past president I would think you would know How the Managers and coaches option worked. BTW the Dodgers lost some good 12's also. You can't punish teams that had a coaching staff in place and are coming back. We can sit here and Hottie all day long but is it going to make things any better? I would have loved to keep the Dodgers together but would it have been for the good of the league for the expansion teams? I think not.
