Should the City of Turlock really be usig RDA money to revamp Joe Debly Field?
I think its absolutely inappropriate but perhaps that same chunk of change could vastly improve Pedretti and turn it into a money maker. They can start with a sit down snack bar that sells beer and wings.

I'd rather see it used for improving the THS baseball diamond but I'm kinda selfish! Seriously though, I understand why the football parents want it fixed. With both schools and youth football using it it is a hazard. True, improvements are needed at Pedretti. I think using the money for youth sports is a better investment than the government is making in Iraq... Apples & oranges; I'm just sayin'...
What is the RDA money intended for???

Besides the 6 high school football teams that use the field frosh/JV/Var. for THS and Pitman and the 200+ kids that use the field for Youth football along with 150+ kids that use it for track and cross country. I can not think of any better use for the money......

Really? $3,000,000 - Perhaps a homeless shelter or YMCA or Boys & Girl Club that will benefit the entire community. I guess I'm not all that opposed to it but I dont like the heavy handed manner in which some of the of the folks who have an alternative opinion have been treated.
THS is outside the RDA target area but if its legal and they have the votes its going to happen. I think it should be placed on the ballot. I'm guessing it would fail.
Randy you really can't think of a better way to spend $3,000,000 in this economy?

I can think of a lot of things to do with 3,000,000 but I'm just looking at what I call the big picture for me ? These fields are suppost to last 20 years give or take a year with out much care. So If you do the math. 3,000,000 divided into about a 1000,00 kids a year on the field for lets say 10 games or track meets a year, and then take that to 20 years.. it cost the kids\parents about 15.00 per kid for the year. Now this does not take into account the cost of the up keep and replanting every year of the grass field. Sounds like one night of beer and wings to me..small price to pay for teh next 20,000 kids enjoying the field. ?

Probably take a lot of beer as the grass field you're referring to would be turf - lol.

So many other communities have raised the money on their own for turf you'd think Turlock could and use the RDA money for something else worthwhile...

Relax Crash.....I know you would love a place to give finger painting lesson's but to hell with the Carnegie Arts Center and their obnoxious supporters. THS stadium has been used for many events other than football. This community deserves a nice facility for graduations, track meets, Relay For Life, football games and not to mention the amount of people who use it to exercise. I would hate to see a kid get hurt because the field is in such bad shape. I guess we need to spend millions on an art center that will be utilized by less than 10% of the population. Perhaps we need more round-abouts installed on streets that don't need them.

As usual you miss the point... I'm all for spending the money on the field. That will get more mileage than anything else they'd spend it towards!

Hmmm......I could have swore you said that the money could be spent elsewhere. The Turlock Turf Crew has worked hard to find ways to fund this project and will reach their goal. I'm guessing the Carnegie people wanted to come in and snag the money after the Turf Crew did all the work. Maybe you can help them out and find a cheaper place to do their "Scrapbooking".
