Crash is our "advisor", I can handle the tough stuff. I would like Craig to read before he tries to correct what did not need to be corrected.

The suspense will be over Thursday night at Lampost (6pm). The new team will announce the name, colors and goals for 2007. All questions will be answered like, will they wear gusset's? or what big tournament will we be playing for? It could be AZ, FLA., COLO., OK., or Cooperstown. BTW- Chris, you have to get started on our website Friday so clear the schedule this weekend.LOL

Ok let's stir up the hornets nest a little bit. I had a discussion with a certain coach from another travel team about developing players. He seems to think he is the best around to develop players, but I some what disagree. My opinion is if you choose all the all star players that have alot of talent already and know the games to a certain extent. Well it does not take much to develop them it is just called fine tuning. I just can't help but laugh at these coaches, because all they care about is people knowing that they developed these kids to win championships, when all along the kids could have done it with anyone that had knowledge of the game. So why not give the credit where the credit is due and that is to the kids for working their butts off and not by some premadonna that wants everyone to think he is the greatest coach in the world. If I am correct there has never been a little league coach or travel ball coach make it to the Major leagues as a coach. They usually coach little league or travel ball after their major league career not before. If these kind of coaches want the world to know who they are then get 11 or 12 kids that did not make all stars and develop those kids into championship travel teams and then you can say you developed a team. Just like my BYB team that was all talent and the kids were the ones to make it happened it was not all the developing of 10 or 11 of the best players around the central valley. All they needed was the leadership and directions. What gets me is these coaches are also so quick to judge other players on the team and say well he can't play here or he can't do this or that. Well if this coach is such a great developer the kids should be able to step it up and be one of the studs on the team with his developing skills. Please do not tell me a kid can not play here or play there when he has all the heart and determination to play anywhere you need him. Sorry guys I just had to vent a little get it off my chest. Glad you guys will listen.

In my opinion a great coach recognizes that some players are naturally gifted and others must make up the difference with a great work ethic. The players that have both are considered stars, which are hard to come by at any level. The coach should utilize the players strength's and push the player to improve the weakness. A great coach is someone who does not want to be bigger than the game or its players. It's easy to pin-point a bad coach (there are plenty of them) but the great coaches are seldom seen or heard during a game. They should be seen and heard at practice but only in a productive manner. I've seen LL coaches talk to their kids for an hour straight about how great they were in H.S., a kid couldn't give a rat's azz about that. This year I watched a travel ball coach in numerous practices amaze the hell out of me with his ability to teach and get the most out of his players and then in a game blow a gasket and cost the same kids a chance to do what they were taught to do. I think the biggest problem with coaches today is that they forget what age and level they are coaching. You can't assume every kid is as good as your own or even worse assume every kid is worse than your own. Some kids need the dicipline and some need to be babied when the situation calls for it. The real question is, can a local travel team compete at a high level? I think it can happen but Turlock has to get rid of the "Daddyball" and "Moneyball" stigma's. The successful programs do have kids from outside their areas but that is not an excuse to finish second to them. We have the talent here to do it, we need to move forward instead of complaining about the past.
Sorry Tony, Craig taught me that to be the manager, you must always have the last word.LOL

Kenny is just jealous Greenie, I get paid to take Levitra. I don't need it but.....o.k. it's like this, compare a Chevy Tahoe to a Cadillac Escalade. Not much difference at first but after an hour or two the Tahoe seems reliable and safe but it's no Cadillac.
