Jesus Craig, with all the b.s. stats you spew you should at least get to vote on the potential HOFers. They say most great historians never fought a war or in your case never had a career(baseball). I felt compelled to tell you that you're a bit much. BTW- the jersey sample you e-mailed me........sucks again. Keep trying ya Peter Gammons wanna be.LOL

Will Bernie Williams make it when he's eligible? He doesn't have great stats. but he's got the Bling.

I think the Hall of Fame is turning into a joke. I mean Shoeless Joe and Pete can't get in but mediocre players are. They seem to value the player on his off the field behavior almost more then what he did on the field. It's not the Hall of Ethics, so it should be based on what they do as players. Juan Marichal, Dennis Eckersley, Fergie Jenkins and Pete Rose all had thier share of problems off the field but were all-stars on the field. I know Crash is old school and would like his hero's to be perfect in every aspect of life but I would say half of the people in the Hall of Fame have done something morally wrong and just didn't get caught. Nobody is perfect but unfortunately some pin-head writers who vote think they should be and now are considering above average players. I'm glad I never liked Steve Howe or Dwight Gooden because they will never make it, although thier numbers wouldn't put them there but without the problems they might have made it. BTW- I know Craig a few of the players I mentioned above are in the Hall so save the lecture.LOL

Naw, not perfect. A few digressions are OK. Rose and Jackson belong. Drug smugglers? Dunno, what do you think. Marichal. I'm OK with him going. Strawberry? If he had the numbers? Maybe. Having someone like him in almost forces the issues he dealt with to be talked about and therefor can be a lesson to kids.

I hope Rose never makes it.. You can beat your wife, Sell and do drugs, be a racist or just do about any other deplorable things in life. But the one thing you can never, ever, ever do is bet on baseball. thats the #1 cardinal rule and everyone nows it. Shoeless Joe is a different story. He belongs in. It was never proved he threw the games but he did take the money. (I think)

Lonnie Smith has the bling too but he doesn't belong.
Bernie Williams is on that long list of really good players and good guys - but not a HOF.
Rose should make it as a player, not a manager. He bet as a manager - for his team to win...
Shoeless Joe deserves. The "evidence" is shaky at best and most agree he played the games to win.

There is no need to bet on baseball in this day and age, but back when the White Sox scandal happened they didn't do it out of boredom or even when Alex Karros and Paul Horning bet they were doing it to supplement incomes. Now a days you can easily see average players with average salaries bet 25k a hand at a black jack tables like I would bet 25 dollars a hand and think nothing of it. I think the bigger problem with todays athletes is that they lack the education and maturity to handle the sudden wealth that they never had growing up and will blow thier money on thier posse's and 22 inch rims for thier 400 thousand dollar cars. By the time they retire they are peddling autographs at Wal-Mart to make ends meet.

Gambling can be an addiction like alcohol. There's plenty of alcoholics in the hall, there oughta be room for a gambler.
