Perhaps if you spent some time serving in the BOD you could help with some of these decisions. I am sure the league would benefit from your input.

My comments are aimed at get more involved if you are not happy. Will definately not help change anything this year. But, 3 to 4 years down the road if your are actively working you maybe able to address some of these issues...if this level of review is truly of interest to you beyond the immediate situation.

It's gonna be tough when Turlock has 4 of the 9 teams playing. I just did some quick research to compare the cities population and how many teams they had.
Turlock 69,000 people 4 teams. Madera 49,000 2 teams Los Banos 35,000 2 teams Atwater 27,000 1 team Chowchilla 16,000 1 team
Looks to me like the #1 goal this off season should redoing the lines and dropping 1 league. We keep talking about it, now's the time to do it.

Makes sense at many levels Greenie. Should be something that is closely looked at.

GREENIE IS THAT WITH DENAIR, HILMAR , AND DELHI. DON'T WE INCLUDE THESE IN OUR BOUNDARIES? THE BIG QUESTION THE BOD WILL HAVE IS WILL ELIMINATE SOME KIDS FROM PLAYING BASEBALL?

Mine is Turlock only. Thats a good point but at what expense to our kids do we carry these cities?

David Day did a population study for the league a year or two ago. You might be surprised by the actual census of NS. At the time, the National boundaries were 18,000+ and the NS population was definately skewed by the populations of the outlying cities. We need to retract the boundaries but with the rule changes we'll have to make a hell of an argument to get a waiver. A/AE & Nat will also have to pull in their boundaries to make things work.

We draw very few if any from Hilmar and Delhi b/c they have other leagues they play in. Well over half of AE is comprised of Denair kids, so they should remain in the boundaries. All the other towns (Hughson, Ballico, Keyes, whaever) should be dropped b/c the number of players participating from these towns compared to the population they add do not make a good trade-off.
AE majors is losing 50% or more of its players and each team is losing similar numbers (about 6 per) so perhaps this would be a good year to do it if the other leagues are in a similar position... so creating new teams in new leagues will not be as bad this year as it would be in other years?

Ash Crash and I have mentioned in some past issues, with out 4 leagues, it might be something we should take a hard look at for changing boundaries for all. I do not know all the details and maybe Tony Lema can share some light on it but what I have heard was that next year boundaries will be frozen. What that means is that a league will be able continue to build their even if their boundaries are carrying more than 20,000 population.
Greenie's stats are good but how the maps are drawn and turn in are what makes up the league. Example : National - if I understand it is in a box on the map as follows: everything west of Geer, south of Taylor, east of Washington and north of Canal Drive. Then we have the American League - east of Geer, south of Taylor, west of Berkeley and north of East Avenue. A retangle box. Now stop and think about what is left for the National South and American East. Very little in town, a great deal country and smaller towns. Denair has been in Turlock Little League since the beginning. I feel the 4 leagues should that a hard long look at boundaries but we need to get the right information for next year about the freeze. I do know that Riverpark (2nd hand information) may have changed their boundaries but have a whole lot of 2-D players (siblings).
