I'm willing to start meeting now to get this done. Just as with the inter-league and City Championship we need cooperation from both leagues. But (for once... lol) Hauser is right - we need to get going now. This can only make Turlock LL better, so why wait?

For those who may not know much about why a change may be needed.... what do those that are interested in doing this see as the benefits. I'll list a few, please add on. 1. Major league teams that have more experienced players that are more suited for this level of play 2. Retaining better players in the program b/c if LL continues to get watered down most will leave for travel ball. We've only lost a couple each year but this is going to drastically change in the next few years if we don't change. 3. Perhaps we can go back to one board? I know on the A/AE side the last few year's very few (not enough) have been involved and I've heard the same about the other side. The big question? How to draw boundaries??? East, Central and West might make the most sense, allowing for growth in each are to the north nd south. Whatever is decided the people involved will have to have the ability to keep the do what's best for me attitude not only in check but neutered

I think you need to get a City map and look at their growth boundaries for the next 20 years. Then make the boundary change. I think we should keep the four leagues for a number of reasons.
1. nice even numbers, anytime you get an odd number somebody always get left out.
2. Look at the City Tournament. We had eight teams play, with three leagues you only have six, that is twenty-four kids that are left out.
3. Once you define the growth area, 4 leagues should be able to accomodate approximately 80-100K, just the City population, not including Denair, Hilmar, Delhi and Keys. Now your talking approximately an additional 20K.
4. Now that you understand that, boundaries will have to be adjusted.
5. Everybody know that you to expand to survive, if you retract, you are setting yourself up for extinction.
Just my thoughts. Good luck to everybody in AS.

WOW SCRAPPER SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE LOCKED UP A SPOT ON THE N N/S BOARD. JUST LOOK AT THIS YEARS LEAGUES, THERE WERE A LOT OF KIDS UP IN THE MAJORS THAT DIDN'T REALLY BELONG. WITH 3 LEAGUES THE COMPETITION WILL MUCH BETTER AND THE TEAMS WILL BE MORE EVEN AS FAR AS TALENT. MAYBE MORE KIDS WILL COME OUT IF THEY KNOW THAT THEIR NOT GOING TO GET THEIR BUTTS HANDED TO THEM EVERY GAME.

Great discussion gentlemen. I ran into a co-worker who's son that lives in Hilmar plays for a league their. So, we should not include Hilmar in our our league boundaries for that reason alone....competition.
Add to the fact that we have 80-100K in population (scrapper estimates) we have plenty to continue 4 leagues with redistricting. I think whether it is 3 or 4 leagues the main issue is that teams need to be collapsed to 16 versus 18 to improve competition. Whatever the formula 16 sits about right for appropriate play.
The league can re-examine growth based on the 12 year old mandatory major play rule and building a better coach program at the minor leagues over the next 5 years.
Guys this is where establish in Fall Clinic Program would be critical for players and coaches. Done right we can build a great program.
[glow=red,2,300]Mr. Lema what is your spin on this discussion?[/glow]

Mr and Mrs Lema are to busy with All Stars at this time to get into this discussion. The only thing to think about is the fact that all boundaries are to be frozen in 08. So NS and AE are going to be doing great when all their area fills in. Please go and read the new rulings out of Williamsport about the boundaries and what they are going to be doing. Don't forget we also have Mt. View and Chatom kids.
Thats all, I am back to paperwork for All Stars. MEL

one other thing to consider is that most of those outlying cities have their own programs which are usually pretty weak compared to Turlock LL.
so turlock ll doesnt pull many from those cities because they have their own leagues, but the few that do come over to turlock ll from those other leagues are usually the BEST PLAYERS from those leagues looking for better competition, and that are usually all stars.
just something to think about.

Thing is they are in our boundaries, and the thing is it does us no good to cut off any propective growth areas since after next year, a league can grow to a bazillion because the boundaries are being frozen. Read the new rule.

Mark is correct, and their fathers normally are coaches or at least would like to be if allowed.
