THAT FAN IS HAVING FUN, BUT ITS HARD FOR THE KIDS PLAYING TO CONCENTRATE WHEN ON THE FIELD. WE HAD TO KEEP TELLING THE KIDS TO LOOK OVER HERE AND PAY ATTENTION. WITH THE KIDS BEING DISTRACTED IT CREATES A SAFETY ISSUE ON THE FIELD.

My daughter plays for Pitman and when THS & Pitman freshman played, he was in the Bulldogs dugout. I admit the girls were very annoyed with him and some of his cheers were negative and demeaning to our Pride team. thats exactly how alote of THS Varsity Baseball fans feel, we tried sending him to the JV team, but he would have nothing of it. "thats ok, were gonna beat you anyway", when were losing by 6 or "were gonna bury you in the cemetary" the guy is annoying and thats that he is supposedly on "our" side

I want to thank Chris, Craig and the Giantsmom for taking a stand for on the issue of the young man who was cheering. I am not afraid to identity myself. My name is Paul Cooper (for those who do not know me), I was the umpire that supposedly according to Sport209 tossed out the young man. Sir I do not know who you are and I do respect your thoughts and concerns for the program but before you or others like you make a statements on the forum, in all fairness to those who are involved, you should get your facts together before you make your statement. I have been umpiring for over 40 years, right out of high school like many of our young umpires. I don't have all the right answers but what I do know is I am still learning every year from you as players, coaches and fans. I don't agree with all the rules that are in the rule book, but as an umpire I have to enforce them to the best of my knowledge. I do what works best for the players and coaches in my games so that I can give them the best game that I can. I do not get paid and have not take a dime except when I first started in high school. With that this is not about me but about our young ballplayers and how we can make this a fun program. Yes, there is going to be ups and downs. That is human nature.
What the above people stated was true.
One of the coaches called time out and both got together and asked us umpires if we could help out with his cheering. The Gaintsmom was correct (thank you) for what was said to the young man. I went over to the screen and told him that we as a program really like what he was doing and we do not want him to stop. What I did ASK him is if he could tone it down a little once the pitcher started his wind. In between pitches or innings was ok to pick it up a little but for the safety of the batter and defensive players once the pitcher started his wind up could he please tone it down just a little. He is very good and very entertaining at what he does. Yes, he is slow and I believe has a physical handy cap with his hands. I don't know but he could be autistic. From what I understand he is in his 20's (second hand information). His first name is Brandon. His last name at this time is not important. I believe he had just moved in from Ceres not to long ago.
On another note with umpires calls. As stated with a few other concerns above, there were opportunities for those who wanted to participate with the program either to learn more about the rules or become an umpire to attend meetings that were available. Any close call you as an umpire will only be able please 50% of the teams and the fans. Yes the strike zone is above the plate with the batters nature swing at the pitch.
Chris, I think we should not be name calling or mud slinging others on the form. If we can not say something positive about someone then maybe we should not saying anything at all. If you have a problem with an individual go to that person and try to work out your differences. After all if you are a coach and you have a problem on your team with a couple players, would you run to another parent and tell them how bad that player is by cussing him as well?

Oh you must be referring to my comments to Greenie.
Paul ~
I have a lot respect for you and your willingness to jump in and help out all the time. While your not managing anymore you are a tremendous asset to both leagues. BTW - You handled that young man wonderfully.
That having been said, I think I can discern between when I'm talking to a parent and making comments here on the forum I started, pay for and administer. I think its extremely presumptuous of you to try proselytize to a 44 year old man about the language he uses. Don't you? Please Coop, remember I'm not one of your former players. I'm a big boy.
I don't take lightly anyone impugning my integrity and hence my comment. Greenie can take it and I'm pretty sure we're still friends despite my sailor's tongue (fingers).
Careful, don't let your halo fall down around your neck.

Chris,
Don't misunderstand me. I have the highest respect what you have done with the forum and what it means to others who wants to express their thoughts and feelings. I also have the highest respect for Greenie as well, I know he puts in alot of time to the program and I pat him on the back for what he has done.
I am not trying to tell you what to do and yes you are not one of my players. If stepped on your toes I am sorry. I still stand by my statement. Do not put peoples name on the screen. If there is a problem, work it out together. I had no idea that there was some history with your league/coaches with the umpire until I talked with a coach or two a few days later.
I was just expressing my concerns for your forum and others who enjoy using it. As for myself, I have no goals except to just help out when I have the time and help make Turlock Little League a great program that it is. Yes, there are concerns from year to year which way it will go. I do not serve on the board and do not want to do it in the future any more. All I want to do is just be in the background and help out when time allows me to help.
Great job for what you are doing. Keep up the good work.
Yes, we are still friends,
Coop

I don't understand. You put my name on your posts regularly. I disagree with your correcting an adult in the manner you did. I think your being a bit inconsistent. Nevertheless, I'll drop it. I'm just amazed that you would be so presumptuous and I stand by my comments.
Where is this coming from? I think our league is second to none regarding our general courtesy to the umpires.

Ok~~ from a mom’s perspective….I agree with Greenie, our Umpire that we had during our game with the Giants made most, if not all, of his calls based upon his rapport with one or several of our coaches. What in some post was called a “fluke” was a disgrace to the league and the children that play in it. It was only one umpire during that game. (Coop, we have a lot of respect for you and truly believe that you umpire games in a fair and consistent manner. My husband remembers you from his high school games!) This in no way takes away from the fact that the Giants played a very good game that night— we have a lot of respect for that team and their coaches. The Dodger/Giants game should have been a good game to watch-- win or lose. And I think that the Giants would agree with that. It is sad that a man in blue with an agenda of his own had to ruin it!
I have a tremendous amount of respect for all of you who take the bull**** from the parents, kids, coaches and umpires. So for that I thank you all.
Sorry, I have to put my name…..(I signed up for my husband but had to add my own opinion!!) I know….no surprise that I had something to say!! Especially, for those of you that know me.

Stacie ~
Welcome to the forum and I am glad you're voicing your opinion. I used the term "fluke" I believe in referring to our game with the Dodgers.
I was referencing the fact that a lopsided win against a very strong Dodger team had to be a fluke. It was an acknowledgment that the Giants coaches knew for whatever reason the stars were aligned against the Dodgers and for the Giants.
We know that we can't expect another game like that with the Dodgers; they are far too good of a team.

I thought Coop was talking about my comment earlier in the post. I have never made a post like that but sometime you have to take a stand for what you believe in. I see we have the same guy umping the next game we play the Giants. It sure is funny how those are the only games he will call in the majors this year.

Stacie wrote: "It is sad that a man in blue with an agenda of his own had to ruin it!" I think it's funny that he would "call" the game for the Giants side considering he has some very strong dislikes for the Lewis family and YES he knows we're Giants. Stacie wrote: "I know….no surprise that I had something to say!! Especially, for those of you that know me." Yes, I know how you can be but then again you know me at football, I'm loud and obnoxious there. Here I've gotten myself in trouble and had to apologize too. Welcome to the forum! Dawn

By the way Coop, I thought you handled that gentleman with professionalism as I stated before. And I'm always glad to have you ump our games.
