On what grounds can a coach or manager be suspended. Anyone know??? Gotta be something pretty heinous...

I would think it should be. In a game there would have to be an ejection followed by a 1 game suspension. I mean if a guy were dropping "F" bombs in front of the kids I could see a longer suspension.

Well all the meetings I have been to with Bob Berry he mainly states it has to be something like physical contact with an umpire, parent, kid, or fan. Anykind of mistreatment to a kid and also the Megan Law I do not believe you should be suspended for protecting your child and if you take your kid and go home for the better of you child why would you get suspended for 3 games. Like the old saying sticks and stones may break you bones but words will never hurt you if that is the case, like I said the other night to you Craig you and I would have died a long time ago.

Tony,
That's no problem. When you are put in a possition of authority, such as the baord, there will always be people who over step that authority and do what they personally want to do.
I was not suspended for my actions on the field but for who I am and what I do. The board was given a chance to do what they wanted to do with me and they did it. I run a successful baseball program and they are threatened by that. I provide a place for players to become better and play at a higher level. Needless to say, my son will not be playing all-stars this summer for Turlock Little League, his choice more so then mine but we both agree.
I witnessed an incident the other night in a little league game that was FAR worse then what happened in our game and the people involved didnt even get a phone call from the baord. WHy? Because it did not effect the president and vice president of the leauge's teams.
That is fine, I got what I deserved I guess. We have bigger things planned though don't we.
Hope you can make it to the Red Sox vs. Phillie game on Sat at 3:30. I hope it goes better then the last time. Red Sox are good, think Adrian will pitch. SHould be interesting. They are probably do to hit him, it's been 9 innings you know. Just hope a fair game get's called. If not, no big deal I guess. The deck is certainly stacked against us... we lost to the Dodgers last night.... they are playing like a first place team!

Lance as we discussed at the Nuts game I still think suspension for 3 games is quite harsh....you do run a good program and have always been there for the kids. Boards will be boards and have always played favorites. Sad but True. Good luck in your return game. Adrian will do fine as always.

@lance ask Bob M. how nice LL Boards were to him over the past 12 years Boards will be boards and have always played favorites. Sad but True. totally agreed, happened to US a couple times also in LL Majors. just run you program as best as you can. As much as i hate to say it, LL is quickly becoming a thing of the past where a small group of people can control a larger group (kind of like Communism). thats why tournament ball is getting so popular, like a "laissez-faire" (ty Chris for Spell Check) Free market Economy, you have the OPTION to play anywhere you want, because YOU are in control of YOUR destiny and dont have to cow tow to what a bunch of Board member say you must do. WOW, i just talked so bad about my pastself

Mark:
I don't agree YOU are in control of YOUR destiny, reason being, if you didn't have LL the majority of the kids would not be playing. Unless you had 35 travel ball clubs from 8-12. Travel Ball is a dictatorship not laize faire. Three people decide who plays and who doesn't. coaches have total control with no rules set in place except there own. Believe or not LL is a democracy. People actually vote for the board. I don't know who votes but someone does.
The problem is that with most organizations, 20% do the work and the 80% complain. That is just a rule, not slap on anybody. The problem with LL is that the 20% that do the work get most of the rewards for their kids. (i.e All-Stars, scheduling, coaching the best teams).
I also think that every organization that is affiliated with a National Organization is at a disadvantage because change is very slow, due to the fact that it has to go through all of the hurdles. Even if TNLL wanted to make some radical changes in inter-league play, TOC, which have been good suggestions, it would take two years to get the LL International to agree,in the meantime, kids move in and out of the league. I know LL give a lot of local decision, but it will ultimately come down to what the LL Inc. wants. I don't know, that my 2 cents.

PLEASE... do not assume that all of us who serve LL are looking to control others.
This is my first year with N/NSouth and from THIS YEARS EXPERIENCE I would be proud to serve again with these folks. Hard working and very dedicated to serving the KIDS...
Lance.....You do a great job in your program !!!!- Keep up the good work

There's pros and cons to both LL and travel ball. They each offer something different... Better? That's an opinion. Both have been a great experience for my boys. We participate in Little League for the social aspect of playing with and against friends and neighbors. Travel ball is less political and in some regards there are less headaches for coaches to deal with. It is more competitive and develops players further and faster than LL programs. LL does not exclude anyone, travel ball does - but I believe any player that is willing to make the sacrifice and develop his talent can find a place in travel ball.

Mark: I don't agree YOU are in control of YOUR destiny, reason being, if you didn't have LL the majority of the kids would not be playing. Unless you had 35 travel ball clubs from 8-12. LL wont ever go away but i am saying it is becoming a thing of the past as in they are losing there best players because of BS year in and year out. TNLL has had many good players and many have stuck with the program for different reasons but many have also left the program. its fun going to a game where yoiu DONT have to worry about politics, just a game where the kids decide who was the better team. and about the 35 teams from 8-12. my guess is that there are probly somewhere near 100 teams probly more in 12 year olds in Northern California. i would say the 9U would be the smallest because most of those kids are still playing coach pitch, but non the less probly at least 50 teams in Northern California. exactly, "laissez-faire" (ty for the spell check Chris!) for the coaches, free to add and/or cut any player that is eligible for any reason. for example Dad is a Pain in the *** and I dont want to deal with it, CUT, see you later!!!!!!! Kid thinks he is the best player in world and brings town team Moral, CUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OR DAD or Kid they they are better than Coaches think they are or arent being utilized to their maximum potential they can go to another team. i dont know how LL votes for its board members NOW, but before........the only people that knew they needed to be league members in order to vote were the ones that were already on the boards.................and before that every scheduled board meeting was changed to where the only ones that knew when and where board meeting were, were the ones on them. personally i think the Website Chris Started for TNLL/TNSLL has been very informative and has taken away the secrecy usually desired by some LL Board members i know, and i am sure no1 took it that way. this is just a discussion board, all discussion should be helpful AGREED

Travel Ball can be for anybody who can afford to pay or raise the money to pay. Any player can join. We have had many kids play with our 11u Raptor team who were not travel ball material. Many of them went back to their rec. leagues and were more successful from the experience. That was their goal. It is great to see kids improve.
Now we all know that the team may not be very successful but if it is just about playing and gaining experience then their are different divisions for travel ball.
Any way...... it was a 5 game suspension I got, not 3 games.
You know the worst thing about little league.... telling you that your son can't play any other baseball when they are on the "All-Star" team. No other leagues, no camps, no clinics, no pitching or batting lessons, no other games. This seems like you signed a professional contract and are "owned" by the league. Is this still the rule or am I wrong?
