One of the problems with BODs is that they turn over so much. There is no continuity and a real lack of institutional history. The first year as president is a whirl wind. You have so much stuff being thrown at you and so many hidden agendas with which to deal you can't be all that effective. It takes a couple of years I think to cut through all the BS and find your way. That assumes the person has good values in the first place. Standing on those values will likely make you a one term president.

So true Chris....now I understand why the league went south with you at the helm....LOL....j/k bro....you did a wonderful job and I know it was not easy. You will never be able to please everyone. The people who gripe the most are those who do nothing....like myself I just wish I did not have back surgery and definently not at the time I did when Grayson was called up. I would have loved to continued with the coaching aspect of the game but could not due to the private eyes following my every move. I respect all those who donate their time but that does not mean I agree with all their decissions. To suspend a coach for 5 games?? That is just a JOKE!!! I cannot understand the reasoning behind the AL board for that decission other then it sounds like punishment for someone who is not liked by some board members.

LOL - Byrd - You're right it wasn't easy. Too often board members are elected by default. Whomever is willing to serve gets elected. Two years ago a grand total of 4 people showed up at TNLL's Annual Meeting to cast votes. However, you field so many calls and complaints as President from folks that never bother to do anything but complain. The umps suck, the uniforms suck, my son's coach sucks, the food in the snack bar sucks, my kid isn't getting enough playing time, our team practices too much, why do we have to sell candy, how are you spending all "our" money (TNLL's $75 dollar reg fee cover about 43% of the league's costs), the schedule is unfair, we need new fields (ya think! - got 2 million dollars?), you dont care about the kids because you start games at 7:30, and my favorite I'm gonna sue you if I don't get a team this year. Its a tough job alright. Not as tough as the U-I-C job or the Snack Shack job.
Our board has become pretty sophisticated and definately think they are the best we've had in a long time. I think we're pretty lucky. Several have been working their asses off and I have been very impressed.

Yes bro I have to agree that we indeed are lucky to have dedicated individuals as we have on the board. My hat goes off to them all.....just hope they are wearing their sunglass's when I take it off....LOL I think the food is pretty good at the snack bar too Again the ones who complain the most are the ones that do nothing but complain. Have seen it for years. My father coached....my brother coached...I coached....I see good things coming from our board this year. Congrats to them all and they know who they are. And yes Chris I think you had a good deal to do with some of the changes that have takin place these past few years. Nice job. See you tomorrow I would imagine as I know you are rooting for those A's to get their first win against us....ya never know as they have been playing much better this half. Nite

Thanks GUYS for your kind words !!!. I know from my years at SACRED HEART that most volunteers are just good folks looking to help in some small way. I will agree that in this arena of LL I have seen more EGOS that I care to witness.
I stated in an earlier POST that what I am seeing from this years BOD has been a great group of GUYS working hard for our KIDS.
I would like to thank CHRIS for his help and leadership this year. He has set the BAR HIGH !!

Hey Rodney As the Secretary do you wear a mini-skirt or something else sexy to the meetings? I over heard Pedro talking about your legs!! The guys on the board are doing a great job this year. MAJOR PROPS to all of you. I wish we could try and get a grass infield for next year. I hear that it makes your field look larger than it really is...

The reason why i asked was I played up there back in the day for sections. It was a cool field. It looked liike a pro Stadium, the Crush Brick base paths and on-deck circles, and warning track, real short grass infield. I was just curious if they kept it up.
