I will get this back on track on growth and make a couple of comments. One is that National looked into using the Sports Complex, but the cost was astronomical. One Saturday there was going to cost us around $220.00, and no concessions. That was without night games because of no lights, and we couldn't have fences. We can't play until the time changes, so we can only play on Saturdays. Very restrictive. But we did look into it. Tony and I have looked into Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth for the older, and even County Ball. We get very frustrated with Little League International rules that seems to change just the for the heck of it. The rule that has irritated me the most has been the one that has ruined our Junior and Senior leagues. If we thought we could grow more with these other programs, we would get serious, but we both think that it is the competition that keeps us at the same numbers each year. The competitions isn't the ones that quickly come to mind, like football, and basketball, and those type of sports. Think of things like skateboard, video games, parents not wanting to have kids involved in things, parents apathy. Parents apathy is huge, since the biggest difference in 20 years is the moms working and not having any time to run kids to practice and games. These are all reasons rather we think they are good reasons or not, they are the reasons why I hear from parents why they are not signing up their kids for ball. I have had kids call me and ask to play and when I say I need to speak to a parent, and the spark leaves their voice, and then the parent comes on, and will say, he can not play, I can not run him to practice. These are the reason why.

Can some one tell me if 9 year olds will be able to play Majors on the AMerican Side?
I thought since National has 9 year olds and Turlock is doing Interleague play this year that The American side should allow 9 year olds to play up too.
It would be so much easier for me to have both kids on the same team.. 9year old and 12.

Hey Lance, Unless things have changed in the last few years, 9 year olds can play up. Zach played up as a 9 year old. Four years in the majors and four years of all-stars is pretty sweet.

9s can't play up on A/AE...
Zack played as a 12 twice I believe b/c of the birth date change... So he was in the minors as a 9.

Kenny, I believe Zack got a fourth year in the majors due to the birthdate cut-off being changed. The american league has not allowed 9 year olds for some time. Inter-league will be fun but I don't think that the american side will have an advantage because the national side has 9 year olds. The past few years on the american side we had 9 year olds in the minors that could out play some 10's in the majors. The biggest problem was all-stars, try telling a parent of a so-so 10 year old that a 9 year old minor leaguer is taking their kids spot on the all-star team.BTW- with all the experience Zack has it only took Crash two tourny's to get him to develope bad habits.LOL I'm guessing the picture of Zack in the gray uni is a statement to Craig. The red belt does stick out like a sore thumb!

But if the leagues are having interleague play, then both sides should have the option of playing up as a 9.
Mike, do you remember what happened when my 9 and 12 year old played in the same game. They both stunk it up but at least the 9u put the ball in play 3-3 while the 12 struck out 3 times.
It is going to be a long year in the minors I guess........I need to buy a house on the national side before this Saturday....
