WOW!!!!!!!!!!
this board has been dead for close to a week even though Tryouts have been going on the whole time.
this board would be a perfect tool for any manager getting ready for the draft.
so much misinformation could be put out here to confuse the opposing managers and to assure better drafts.
not to mention all the goosip and life it would bring to the forum.

Yankees had their first team practice yesterday....We drafted young ( 5-10's ) gives us a good balance of ages/talents.
We are starting w/ the BASICS "DRILL THE SKILLS" It does take some adjustments after playing TRAVEL BALL
I think we should have a very evenly matched division this year. I would sure like to work toward playing games with the AMERICAN LEAGUE. Maybe next year---
Good Luck to All

do you mean REAL games or PRACTICE games? when i coached in LL and in LL Juniors we played preseason "practice" or "scrimmage" games with American and American East all the time. i would say that 95% of our preseason scrimmage games were against American/American East teams

that would be in my opinion a disaster.
first of all, i THINK that is against the rules for LL International.
second, it would create an unfiar advantage to some teams.
say for example there are 8 teams in Nat/Nat south, and for some reason they would allow us to play teams from American/American East.
lets say 2 cross town games per team.
your with the Yankees right Rodney, and the Angels are supposed to be pretty good.
so what happens when your team draws the favorite to win the American League Title and the favorite to win the American East Title as cross town games, while the Angels draw 2 pre-season consenses basement teams???
as a result you lose the National South Title to the Angels by 1 game even though you defeated them every time you played each other. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- its tough to make/play schedules that ARE balance where every team plays wach other the same amount of times, imagine the chaos from an UN balanced schedule.
even still there can be problems.
take for example my next post

Rodneys referring to inter-league play. Preseason games or scrimmages are against Little League's rules. Only preseason games within your own league are allowable. I've heard teams have done it but it is against the rules.

Its legal to play American as long as you receive permission to interleague. Its no different than national & National South playing each other as they are separate leagues. It would only work if you played each team in the other league at least one time.

in 2002 when we won the City Championship. there were 5 REALLY GOOD teams and 5 really bad teams.
these were the final standings
National South Exchange Club (OUR TEAM)--19-4 (National South Champions and League Champions) Shutters and Shades----------18-5 Gomes and Sons----------------17-6 Winton Ireland-------------------4-18 Charter-----------------------------0-22
National Meeks----------------------------19-4 (National Champions) Rogers Foods-------------------19-4 International Paper-----------12-10 United Rentals------------------8-14 B&D INC.-------------------------4-18
although we all had the same amount of games with every team, i took exception to the schedule right from the get go i knew the odds were against us as we had to play all the good teams in the same week, while our rivals in National South had 1 easy team and 1 hard team every week.
our schedule called for playing Gomes and Shutters in the same week then playing Rogers and Meeks the next. that would be followed by playing the remaining 5 easy teams all in succession.
but having to play those 4 tough teams in succession meant that we could throw our ace only against 2 of them while we would be facing 4 consecutive aces and as you can see by there records they too had good aces.
while our rivals had weeks where they played an easy team in their first game of the week and then a hard team in the second game. which meant that they could throw their Ace EVERY time they played a good team.
luckily the talent prevailed and our #2 pitcher, who most people underestimated on the mound (including myself), pitched like an ace the whole season. ==================================== that was an example of balanced schedules creating unfair advantages.
imagine the chaos that un UNbalanced schedule would create!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
creating a good fair schedule is a hard task. and the person making it should put a lot of time into it if he wants it to be fair.

I've heard teams have done it but it is against the rules. back when we were down there at Soderquist EVERY team played cross town scrimmages. it was a lot better to play teams from across town that you wont see unless it is in the City Championship game than to play teams within your own league that would then get an idea of where you stood.
