Parents and Friends:
The season is in full swing, and we are surviving. We’ve had some concerns for which we have learned from and have been educated through. As some of us know and others who do not know, this program (our program-your program) is run by volunteers. At the end of the season as we all know, everyone goes their own separate ways, to vacations and other activities. We, as the Board of Directors (BOD) of the American-American East Divisions, feel at this time it is important that we reach out to you parents and friends by asking for YOUR HELP for the new coming season for 2007-2008. This program is a year round program running from October to September. The board meets the first Thursday of every month at the Methodist United Church of Turlock at Berkeley and Arbor at 7pm. This year was extremely tough, due to lack of volunteers. We did not have at least 7 key positions filed. These unfilled key positions were as follows:
Equipment Chairman Special Activities Chair Auxiliary Chairman Player Agent – AM
Uniform Chairman Machine Pitch Chair Junior/Senior VP
It is tough enough to run a program and try to keep it on a straight and narrow path, let alone not have the sufficient help that is needed. Opening Day takes a tremendous amount of work to put together with sponsors, BBQ, schedules, uniforms, etc. There were a number of us that took on more than we could handle. That was only because we didn’t have YOUR HELP. The only way we can get this information out to you is through out web-site and coaching staffs. You know as well as we do that communication breaks down now and then.
The season starts in October with the new board and finishes in September with the old board. Elections will be held in June this year instead of September. At the beginning of the year, with our signups, we try to get as many of you parents to sign up for the membership, it is not too late. For those of you who have or are concerned about our program, your players program, now’s the time to step forward and be a board member for the upcoming season.
We ask you to HELP US make this program a successful one. HELP US; help your player and their friends. Unless you parents step forward and take a position, relieve the pressure from our coaches, this program, our program, your program and most importantly your players program WILL FOLD.
VOTING WILL TAKE PLACE ON JUNE 7, 2007, AT THE METHODIST CHURCH, AT 7PM. YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF LITTLE LEAGUE IN ORDER TO VOTE AND/OR HOLD A POSITION. YOU MAY VOTE AND PAY YOUR MEMBERSHIP FEE WHEN YOU COME TO VOTE.
