Watched the championship game today in Marietta at the Wood Bat finals. Some of the opposing fans were yelling at the other coach, we just thought they were typical psycho parents. A few pitches later the pitcher appeared to be in some discomfort so the coach visited the mound but kept the kid in. The fans yelled some more. We wondered what it was all and I thought it might be b/c of his pitch count so we asked the scouts how many pitches the kid had thrown and he said 76... then he added "but he threw 7 innings the day before!." His final pitch count had to be in the 90s. The starting pitcher had given up 8 runs so he came in in the third and went the rest of the way. He came up in the top of the 7th with his team up by one and two runners on. Kid hits a blast over the 365 sign (with a woodie). He pitches the bottom half of the inning and his team wins 15-10. Helluva day but I wonder what price he's gonna pay? His coach is a friggin' idiot. This is exactly why all organization need to have pitching limits - to protect innocent kids from idiot coaches. The associations like to claim innocence but they could protect the kids - if they wanted to. If his parents were there they're to blame as well. The day before he was throwing 92, today mid-80s. He might have a future - as long as his arm holds up...

i cant blame the organization crash.............i put the blame 1st and foremost on the player and his parents...............afterward on the coach...............
reason i say this is because they coach will only do what the player and parents let him get away with..........
the coach is still a slithering snake no doubt..................

But if the organization had an innings limit in place it would've never happened. I can blame the kid only so much, he's a kid and doesn't really know better and doesn't want to let anyone down. If the parents were there I blame them second. They may or may not know better - but the person in the most control and responsible for the player on the field is the coach. He pulls the kid and he's out of harms way. But they all should know better and none of 'em did anything. Stupid.

I blame the baseball manufacturing industry. If they weren't making baseballs then no pitcher would ever be injured due to overuse or comebackers. I think baseballs should be banned from our national pastime.

BTW - Rodney's home! I see him logged in and I know he's at least as big a sentimentalist as Crash so we should hear some great stories.

I think coach bares the bigger responsibility. Although its doubtful the parent was unaware of overuse injuries you know the coach was aware of the danger.
