Looks like Kevin hit the sac fly to tie the game in the ninth.

That is awesome. ;D Cool link Chris. It is great to see local talent succeed on the highest levels. This town has a lot of good ballplayers that should go to the next level.

Now that Kevin is back in town, let the debate begin......my personal opinion is that he should not play football. Why risk a promising baseball future for an average high school football team? I know THS encourages kids to play multiple sports but in some cases they should discourage it.

Until you sign the letter or the contract you should keep all of your options open.

I know for a fact Kevin will have a big decision very soon. He will have to sign a letter of intent in the near future and I'm sure once he does that school will demand he stop playing football. Take Reeves Nelson from Modesto Christian as an example, UCLA made an offer and strongly suggested he not play football....the kid played anyway and hurt his knee. They honored his scholarship only after multiple specialists cleared him. Athletic scholarships are only year to year so if it looks like there are still problems with the knee the doctors did not catch or disclose than I'll bet he will be playing at a JUCO the next two years. If my memory serves me correctly....Rob Mendonca was a great athlete and could have played football but chose to run cross country instead. My point is if you want to get into the "school spirit" and participate in multiple sports, just be smart about it. Just to clarify, I have nothing against high school football and would encourage any kid who wants to play except for those who are a lock to sign a pro contract or a D1 college recruit, it's just too risky. I might feel better about Kevin playing if they would let him wear the red vest during games but that won't happen. Pitman still remembers a sophomore leading THS to victory last year and would love to take advantage of an undersized offensive line this year. JMO- but what do I know......I supposedly learned everything from Cumberland.

I supposedly learned everything from Cumberland. I might take a little credit for SOME of what you know about baseball but that's about it - I don't want any responsibility or blame for the rest of your life! Glenn has talked to Kevin about making a decision but Kevin still has a love for the game and wants to play. Could any of you tell your 16 year old son "no" to a sport he loves? I have a feeling Kevin might see the light after next summer. Then again, if he doesn't get hurt playing football this year, he might rationalize "why not one last year." I've seen football injuries cost young players one or two years or their careers. Statistically the odds are a lot higher in football. If I were to have a career ending injury I'd want it to be in the sport that I want to go to the next level in. I don't know if Kevin has aspirations of playing college football but I believe his future is in baseball. Bryce Harper would probably be a helluva football player but he decided at a young age what he wanted and is committed 100% to achieving that. Kevin is missing out on many big fall showcase events on the diamond and experience as well. But he's already on the map with several top D-1 schools for baseball so will not playing fall hurt? Maybe playing football will rejuvenate him and not lead to baseball burnout as might happen with some kids. He's been on the baseball merry-go-round since last fall so maybe he needs a break. But when letters of intent are presented next year I'm sure those coaches will have some advice for him and I doubt any will tell him to play football. He is fun to watch on the grid iron though...

Easy to say but I could not say no to my son if he told me he wanted to play football - or in Ryan's case that he's decided to give up basketball. At some point we have to let them make their own decisions... It gives them roots - and wings.

Did you say wings? Now if you can just get Brett to quit riding the skateboard and get the kids haircuts.

He hasn't rode his jump bike in about a year and it's been longer since he was on a skate board...

Do you have them drinking the Kool Aid now? Will you start your own baseball compound now? Perhaps Waco, Texas has some land available.
