Very good!!! I agree with all of you-except Chris' statement that HS sports will eventually be eliminated. Some students are motivated at school because of the sports programs. All HS's advertise their sports programs not their academics as much. Honestly- how many of you picked the HS because of its sports program?
All those guys are great, but let's narrow our search- who within the last decade?

How can y'all forget Brad Lesley - MLB Reds, THS grad. Went on to become Animalsan in Japanese league and had roles on the Silver Screen. Even starred as a biker with Tony the Tiger in a commercial a few years back.
As far as "studs" go it's rare b/c it takes several things - raw talent, grades, ambition, self-motivation, and a good head on their shoulders. Some kids have one or two, few have all. Today it's even tougher b/c colleges scrutinize GPA. Gone are the days when a kid can be a stud on the field and a dud in the classroom. And even for the kids that have it all it's a rare individual that can persevere through the grind of college sports then the minor leagues. The game becomes work - and it takes a lot of heart. Talent ain't enough... a kid has to have the drive - and that's a rare human trait in any endeavor. We're basically lazy asses and look for the easy way out. Except for the rare Bo Jacksons in the world who don't really have to work at it, the studs become those few souls that can master the monotony of the grind - and it's a b*tch. So have fun and enjoy Little League, travel ball, and high school because that's the summit for most kids... And there ain't nothin' wrong with that - it's life. Enjoy the moment while it lasts, because it is all too soon gone.

Crash, well said, I think HS sports will never die, but they will get watered down. Kids today have so many options and the classroom isn't getting any easier. These student-athletes should take some real pride for what they are doing. It may not seem like much now, but they are preparing themselves for the real world. I still have a way to go for my student athletes to be in high school, but watching and listening to you guys will definitely help me get them where they need to go.
