TM scouting for a D-1 college? He must have lower his standards- I thought he was a Pro Scout. I bet I know which college- it must have a billdog as its mascot. I question why he would be taking notes, after all he knows ALL the kids up and down the state. He even has a birth certificate for every kid too.

I have a crazy question.....after playing CC yesterday and 10 running them I wonder why play teams you are pretty confident you can beat or do teams play them to cush the numbers? I think JV was crazy 15-0????I think that was the first time CC/THS played each other and now I see why......

Pit played Beyer, Johansen and davis this past week before playing St Marys yesterday. To be honest I had no idea how our team would stack up because those three teams couldn't have beat an average Junior Little League team. The Pitman freshman beat them badbly and they should have. The week ends with St Marys and Oakdale. The boys were challenged on the road by a good Rams team and won. Oakdale should be another good test tomorrow at Pitman.
Pit pounded the teams they should have beaten and beat the team they haven't beaten in 4 years. I think that is the correct approach. Padding numbers just to look good is for Kittys don't you think?

Everything changes once league starts but for now I think you have to benchmark against the better teams a teams play like Oakdale, St Marys, BC etc.

THS JV scored 17 in the bottom of first (some players had three ABs) against CC. I think final tally was 20 - 0. Was interesting to see CC pull their infield in when it was 19 - 0 and a runner on 3rd. Their pitcher also threw 76 pitches (in the first inning) without one visit from the coach. John Ford hit a big blast that nearly cleared the football stadium bleachers in left-center... only missed by a few feet, hitting the top of the chain link.
I know Turlock has historically played a tough pre-season schedule but I don't believe it was the current staff that set it up this year...

Yep, knew that. I'm just surprised they are not recruiting more players, times must be tough for CC if they can't field a competitive JV team... but that doesn't explain the coaching decisions or lack thereof.
One of there coaches muttered as he was going through the line shaking hands, "How's it feel beating up on a bunch of freshmen?" Seems they can dish out beatings but don't like it when it happens to them. At least the Turlock coaches showed a great deal of class by holding up runners when they could have easily scored.

Since CC didn't show for Pitman- they probably thought THS was beatable. I heard that game was a massacre , something like 16 runs in one inning. That's what can happen if freshman sports are eliminated. There may not be enough solid players and kids not ready to play up will be placed on teams and confronted with competition that is over their heads. Districts that don't have freshman sports combine their freshman and JV or the better players move up to vatsity. Look at their records- they seldom have very strong teams. I don't know though - this is just my observation.
