I have decided not to act as Fall Ball Commissioner this year. The American/American East board has headed this up the last three years but at this time I have not received enough volunteers to get this done. This is not a slam on the Board. It's just a fact that after all stars people need a break, have moved on to other commitments, etc... and my friends that have helped in the past are as burned out as I am. Bottom line is we need fresh riders to take the reigns. If no one steps up the kids will not have a fall league. Several coaches in the minors would like the minor division to be kid pitch as they feel going back to machine pitch is a step backward. They also want to use fall Ball to develop pitching. I agree. I'd also suggest a fee increase of $10 (at least) and 12 games for minors, 14 for major - rather than the 16 we've done in the past. If we start the first week of Sept. and end second to third week of October we miss the really cold weather. i'd be glad to offer my help to anyone that wants to be commissioner - but I've just got too much on my plate to be the go to guy... I think what is needed is the following:
1. Fall Ball Commissioner for majors 2. Fall Ball Commissioner for majors 3. Umpire in Chief for majors (I'd suggest minor coaches call from behind mound) 4. Somoene to run snack bar at both Julien and Soderquist
This would be the very least to gt it done right...

Anyone interesting in taking the reins and/or helping run Fall Ball should attend the Board Meeting of American/American East on Thursday, August 4th, at the Free Methodist Church on the corner of Arbor and Berkeley at 7:00 p.m. If we do not have someone step up to run it there will be no fall league.

Anybody know the latest on Fall Ball? I was not able to attend the meeting and would like to know if somebody stepped up and decided to take over. I hope it will be a go. Thanks!

Good luck with the Fall ball program. It is a nice place for the up-and-comers to get some at-bats and experience in different positions.
As Craig noted about 1 month ago, by the time the season and all stars are done, the folks who have been the stalwarts are beat up, tired, and ready for some R & R before they head off to the next board meeting and potential travel ball.
For all who volunteer and keep the program moving, a huge THANK YOU and KUDOS for your efforts. The kids of Turlock thank you for your continuing and on-going efforts!!!!
Bob
