TPR Baseball (Travel Baseball Tournaments) will be hosting an Umpire Clinic January 10 and 11 (Sat. & Sun.) 10:00am to 3pm at Rainbow Fields, Modesto.
Classroom training Saturday and on the Field Training on Sunday. Must attend both days to be certified.
TPR Baseball is the largest travel baseball organization in the Central Valley. We had over 1,000 teams attend our events in 2008 and had over 2,000 games played.
New umpires encouraged to attend and all are welcome. Umpires who attend will be placed on our list of potential tournament umpires.
Beginning tournament umpires receive minimum of $35 per game and up to $44 per game with the possibility of 10 games per weekend. Brand new umpires may not be used for tournament games but will gain valuable experience for all expects of umpiring and may be given a chance to umpire which will lead to future tournament games. We have over 38 weekends with tournaments and many tournaments need over 20 umpires!
Our minimum age to attend the clinic is 15 years old. This age may not be ready to do tournaments but may begin umpiring our Fall League in Turlock (Sept. 2009). This clinic is a great way to get your foot in the door, and umpires who do well will be given tournament weekends.
We are looking for umpires who have a love of the game, are willing to learn and improve, and can keep a cool head under pressure. The more experience the better, but we are also interested in training brand new umpires too.
Umpires need to bring gear both days for behind the plate. If none is available for new umpires, we will try to provide. I think lunch will be provided too? Bring water, snack, notebook and pen. The fee is $40 for the Clinic. If you are chosen to work tournaments for us, the Central California Umpires Association fee will be $35 but that is not required unless you will be working for sure.
Please let potential umpires know about this clinic. If you can not attend this clinic, you will not be eligible to umpire for TPR Baseball this season.
Please let me know if you are going to attend. A simple email with your name, experience, and interest to attend is all that is needed.
