Turlock Raptors finished 4th out of 42 teams in Las Vegas Triple Crown Nationals this weekend, Sept. 22-24. We were the number 11 seed even though we were 2-0 after pool play and won both games by a combined score of 19-7.
Raptors played in division 1, the top bracket too. They finished with a 4-1 record defeating 4 different teams from Southern California inlcuding the #6 seeded So. Cal Falcons and the #3 seed and former Triple Crown Champions Chino Titans. The Titans also won a National Tournament a month ago in NOrth Carolina. They did not allow a run in 3 games until they played the Raptors.
Raptors could not knock off the #2 seeded San Diego On Deck Threat team and missed the championship game by a score of 5-3. Close game down to the wire.
It was a total team effort as Triple Crown only allows pitchers to pitch 6 innings for the whole tournament and the team used 7 pitchers out of their 11 players. Teams from 8 different states attended the tournament. Most teams were from Southern California, where the toughest competition is suppose to be.
4 homeruns were hit including one by Turlock's Zack Abuan. Zack hit over .500 for the National Tournament in the lead off spot. He also played great defense in center field. My son, Adrian pitched a complete game, 1 hitter, O ER against the #6 seed Falcons to advance us to the final 8. He also batted 6 for 15 for the tournament including 7 RBI's.
Raptors will try and improve on their finish in Las Vegas when they head to Arizona in December for the Super Series Winter Nationals!
Parents and Coaches are very proud of our boys!
