The Rangers will be facing Nor Cal Baseball Saturday monring at 9:30 on Field 5 at Pedretti. They are one of the premeir teams in the U.S. Their alumni include Dontrelle Willes, Pat Burrell and others. Might be fun to watch our local boys face some of the best baseball players in the country.

are you sure that is the real NorCal Baseball because their schedule has them listed as playing in a USSSA tournament in Carson this weekend. Lance would have to confirm as to which Nor Cal team it is... I was told it was them. Lance? Perhaps you're right though Mark. I'm sure if it was THE Nor Cal team Lance would have scheduled his team to play them.

I spoke with Lance and he said it is the Nor Cal team we thought it was. The confusion was that they seldom use the Black Soxx name and there is another 13u team that goes by Nor Cal. He said they are from the Bay Area and only wanted to play in the upper division. The coach that contacted Lance is listed on the Nor Cal site.
I can see it now.....if the Rangers win, Crash will have special t-shirts made up to remember the occasion. Whoever wins the 13 year old division will have to battle because it looks like the toughest bracket most of them will face all year. It kills me to dish out compliments to Crash but I like the Rangers chances.
BTW- I got an update from Murphy. The Nor Cal Grizzlies beat a team from New Jersey 6-4 in their first game of the tourny in Omaha. They face a team out of Colorado next. He said all the teams there seem to be evenly matched.

i might just have to go our and watch that game. would be nice to see where the Rangers stand at this particular age against a legitimate "National" team. i saw a photo of the NorCal Black Sox and many of the kids were bigger than the coaches. most were in the 5'6-5'10 range and "only" 1 six footer. www.norcalbaseball.org/13u/13u_blacksox_news.html

I don't think the Rangers are playing the Black Sox. They are playing the Nor cal Sox. We played the Black Sox in Sacramento and they beat us 9-3 . They are a very well coached team with very big heads especially the coaches. If it is the Black Sox I hope the Rangers kick there butt's and show them how we play ball in the valley.

He called me too. I could barely understand him.......the southern accent was getting stronger as he talked. I'd hate to see him play in Georgia, it's like a whole other language. Hopefully lil' Murph can be a part of another national championship.

Yeah he called me too. I thought it was a crank so I hung up on him. Turns out that they're 2-0. He's taking Tyler to the College World Series tomorrow. How cool is that?!

It is the real deal Nor Cal team. I found out on Thursday after speaking with the coach. They are on there way to the elite 24 in Florida in August and want some good competition so they are coming to Turlock this weekend and again on July 21-24, just before they take off to go to Florida.
L Boullion
It will be a great 13u bracket.

Rangers lost 5 - 8 but proved they could hang with anybody. A play here and there and the score could have been different. The boys id fine. Hopefully we'll have another shot at them.

Sounds like a hellofa game Craig. We dropped one 10-7 to the Rockers. We gave them all the could handle offensively. Like you, a break here or there and we win the game. NS looked good too.
