It sure looks like the owners are out of control again. Gary Matthews Jr. gets a five-year, $50 million contract. This for a guy with a lifetime .249 hitter. Juan Pierre gets a five-year, $45 million. The only one that is worth the money is Alfonso Soriano who the Cubs gave a $136 million, 8-year deal. You gotta love the money that these owners have to throw around.

I don't love it Greenie because everytime they pay these outrageous figures we pay more to go see a Freemont A's game. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Sports should be like the movies. The marquee names get the big bucks, the co-stars considerably less (but more than scale) and the supporting cast all get scale. If this was done the top 1 or 2 guys on a team would get the loot, the next 3 or 4 would have a piece of the pie and the rest would share the crumbs.
Hell, didn't the owners learn their mistake after the first Gary Matthews sign his big free agent contract (the did nothing afterwards???).
One word to all you Giant fans - Marvin Bernard!

How about my beloved Red Sox bidding over 50 million just for right to negotiate with a Japanese pitcher. Not to mention a 30 day window to seal the deal, I guess thier hatred for the Yankees is the same as mine.
Crash, are the Rangers gonna be tight-wads this winter? You need to spend some of that revenue and land that 13 year old free agent. I told you not to give your son a "no-trade" clause, just think of what the Rapturds would give you for him.

Crash, I told you not to give your son a "no-trade" clause, just think of what the Rapturds would give you for him. Yeah, and I threatened the little with putting Hank up for adoption and all he said was "ah, gee - no more dog poop duty?" They learn the art of negotation early these days...

lifetime bench players are getting 4M dollars for multiple years (DeLaRosa, Catlonatto). these teams are rediculously out of control right now.
and i have to disagree with Soriano being worth it. 18M a year for a guy thats 31 and giving him 8 years is crazy, hes not going to put up those number at 37-39 (unless he is juicing).

Screw the MLB and its salaries. Minor league games may not have the grandeur but they're just as fun and won't bankrupt anyone.

Hell yeah because I know Mike & Craig would definately be in the poor house if it weren't for $1.00 beer. I here Craig prefers Thunderbird for 2 @ $.99 though.
