After seeing that neww kid Gonzalez, the transfer from Tracy pitch today I'm impressed and have heard from local coaches that he is the real deal. The kid had 12 s/o's in 5 innings and was only allowed to throw fastballs and changes. He ended allowing one hit, an infield grounder that the third baseman should have made. I'm aware that it was only Livingston, but I'm sure that we will continue to hear great things from these kid.

THS JV pitchers are also only allowed to throw fastballs and change ups right now and are limited to around 40 pitches
last saturday Derek Woods threw 3 innings, 6K's, and only 1 hit against St. Mary's of Stockton (always a powerhouse team) and Paco threw 3 innings of 1 hit ball against Oakdale (always a powerhouse D2 team)
those guys are probly considered by many at THS as the #3 and #4 pitchers on THS JV team

The THS JV pitchers are all basically control/finesse type pitchers.
their ace Willie Galdamez struggled against Davis (Yolo) today in 3 innings giving up 1 run on 1 hit but 3 walks. he is having a hard time with control early, thats a problem he has never had, but he will work out the kinks in the mechanics soon.
Paco, a soft throwing righty that relies on location and changing speeds also went 3 innings and also gave up 1 run on 3 hits while only being allowed to throw fastballs.
they were working on pitching and locating fastballs in this game and went 6 innings only giving up 2 runs. which is good considering these 2 guys strongest assett is changing speeds.
those 2 have given up 6 runs in 12 innings while throwing 90% fastballs and 10% changups.
Wednesday they play Lincoln of Stockton at Stockton and then on Thrusday they play Will C. Wood HS in Vacaville

Pitman played Tracy this afternoon and came out with a convincing 6-1 win. Nathan Gonzalez pitched 7 innings, striking out 15 and allowed 3hits. The kid is for real

AJ whats up with your school (Pitman) pitching guys 7 innings this early in MEANINGLESS games? at both the JV and Varsity levels

All I can say is that the Tracy game for Gonzalez was far from meaningless. Going back to your old runnnig ground and performing like he did was huge. As far as going 7 innings, the kid has been playing travel ball so it was not "early in the season". I don't believe I would have let Colin go 7. The week before the let Snodgrass go the whole game.

all i am saying is that i would be more cautious with young guys arms. Pros dont even go more than 2 ininngs in their first couple of starts of spring training.
anyways good luck to you both at the plate and on the mound.
after seeing a few preseason games i think Pitman will beat THS at both the Varsity and JV levels.
so far it seems as if Pitman is getting the job done better than THS, even though THS has yet to field their best 9 players at both Levels.
