Who is you all time favorite baseball player and why???
Some of you may know mine, Nolan Ryan. Class act, worked hard at his craft, worked hard to achieve longevity and treated fans the way they should be treated. Gives back to the community. A great role model for everyone.

I'll be giving away my age...but I can still see him trotting out to CF. Great roll model - 5 tool player.

For me it was Steve Garvey he was probably not one of the games all time greats but for a kid growing up in So Cal in the 70's he was a God. His Popeye arms and clean cut All American persona may have been cultivated but wouldn't it be nice if today's athletes carried themselves in the same manner? Yep, it Garvey for me. - 10-time All-Star (1974-81, 1984-85)
- Most Valuable Player (1974)
- 4-time Gold Glove Award (1974-77)
- Twice All-Star Game MVP (1974, 1978 back when you cared about the AS game)
- 6-time led league in games played (1977-78, 1980-82, 1985)
- Twice led league in hits (1978-80)
- 7-time hit .300 or more (1973-76, 1978-80
- 6-time collected 200 or more hits (1974-76, 1978-80)
- 5-time drove in 100 or more runs (1974, 1977-80)
- Twice National League Championship Series MVP (1978, 1984)
- Garvey set a National League record with 1207 consecutive games played, from September 3, 1975, to July 29, 1983. The streak ended when he broke his thumb in a collision at home plate against the Atlanta Braves.
- In the 1978 National League Championship Series, Garvey hit four home runs, tying Bob Robertson's NLCS record (1971).

Mine would be Reggie Jackson. I was 9 when I was riding my bike up to see my dad at the Firehouse he worked at. There was a Hot Rod shop down the street on East 14th St. in San Leandro and as I was going by he was standing out in front so I stopped and said Hi.. He must have spent 1/2 hour talking to me about baseball and the A's. We went to a game a couple of weeks later and I was by the dugout and he called out my name and invited me on the field. He has been my favorite player ever since.

Growing up as a Brewers fan in Wisconsin I liked the home town heros of Paul Moliter and Robin Yount. They were a great pair. I guess that shows my age.....
Favorite player today Derek Jeter.
