Hey Crash, I checked out the website. That is impressive and that 11-12 team looks like they are in high school.
That is a serious complex and clubhouse. There is no way the City of Turlock would help us out in that way, unless they could hold all of the t-ball and Pee-wee stuff there as well as pay a huge fee.
Anybody have about 50 acres and approximately 10 million bucks out there. The tax benefits would be huge.

This is Mel. Atwater boundaries include about 111,000 population. They have been told to cut down their boundaries or not get chartered. They have worked on it this year, but could never get it done. I expect that it will be done. Atwater includes Livingston, part of Merced, Atwater, and all the other little towns.
The rule is that you are to have 20,000 population, unless a good argument can be made for another youth baseball league that competes with your league for players. Most of us can say this, and most do.
The latest thing with Riverpark is that they are rumored to have 80,000 in there boundaries. They are also rumored to move the boundaries to accommodate some players that they want in the program. They are also accused of allowing players to use address's of family members. This is being looked at by the DA, because someone wrote an anonymous letter to Williamsport and this had a ring of truth to it and Western Region has been ordered to get to the bottom of it. As I speak, we have someone getting the population within the boundaries that are advertised as Riverpark. If they have 80,000 they need to have 4 leagues, and maybe even 5 to accommodate some growth.

I'm glad they are looking into it. For our 12U team that did alpy by the rules, however, any finding will be too late...

I think that is great. It puts everybody on a leveler playing field. I think that is the purpose of the 20K rule. What a rude awakening it will be if Riverpark has to even split into three leagues.
You probably won't here from them very often.

An Email I sent on the 17th to Unpage regarding Dist. 10 results Thanks for this ... it is not a coincidence that a couple of years ago Conejo Valley (SoCal) went to the LLWS in the year before they split into two charters. They fought it for a couple of years because they knew a special group was coming along. In the U.S. title game, they beat Lamar LL from Texas ... and the next year, Lamar was forced to split into two charters, as well. That's good info John, It is only a matter of time until leagues get what is coming to them.
Everybody has to play by the rules. Turlock should be proud of the of the results that it had this year. It doesn't mean we can improve but to have three teams in the District Finals and a couple of more in the semi-finals. We are doing alright

Let's put it this way... Riverpark is to Little League what Central Catholic football has been to southern league football

My son plays at Riverpark. It is a very well organized, competitive and intense league. Turlock only seams to be a few years off from being another power house in the Dist. 10. at all levels. (if they aren't one already)
here are some facts to answer some of your questions:
The 12 year old all star team practices 6 or 7 days a week, for about 4 hours a day. They have been doing so since the day after the league championship game (June 17) The 11's and 10's also practice 6 or 7 days a week, but probably for only about 3 hours. The league has gotten to the point where it expects each age division to win District, the Sections and make it to the state playoffs. If the 12's loose tonight, it will be a MAJOR dissapointment, as they were expected to go very far, if not all the way to Williamsport. They are a very talented team, probably the most talented team RP has ever seen, and will probably see for some time. They have only 2 11 years olds, and one of them is argueably the best player on the team, and the other is the son of the Fresno State coach.
Many of you mention that maybe RP plays with the boundaries rules, I am not "enough in the know" to understand all this, but if they do it, they do it quietly. But I know each year at registration, they are very particular on paperwork. You have to understand that RP fall in the Clovis Unified School District boundaries. This school district is extremely competitive in all sports, and this little league just shows the commitment parents are willing to make to make thier kids the best. I will say it DOES go overboard, many parents will do anything and everything to making thier kids better, it amazes me the amount of time and money is spent just to help thier kids get one step ahead. When a whole league of these families come together, it creates high expectations, and sometimes, a whole lot of politics. I have to wonder how many of these kids will be out of baseball in 5 years from injured arms, or just plain being burnt out. We will see. any other questions or info you would like about RP?

Well if all the parents were as seeminglingly well intended as you then RP is in good hands. Thanks for the info
