Not to take anything away from the pitcher that night who did an outstanding job on the mound with some very good defense behind him as well, the batter hit a shot TO THE LEFT of the 3rd baseman who was lucky to get a glove on it which slow it down enough for the shortstop to make a play on it. It was a major league play from the very start of the pitch to the catch with all involved. Give the credit for hustling down the line. The call still stands: SAFE and from I saw from the plate it was a hit.

When a Pitcher has a NO-NO going in the last inning the first hit must be clean. I disagree. A hit's a hit, the situation doesn't matter. A no-hitter must be earned. No gimmes - otherwise it's tainted. If it's a routine play that the kid should have made it's an error. If it's a one hop rocket it's a hit... In the Pros a player gets credit on his HR tally for an inside-the-parker.. but I agree with Chris, in LL it should be over the fence to go on the HR board.

I agree on the inside-the-parker Crash. However, I get an email from a minor league parent pretty regularly wanting to inform me of their kids inside the park homer. In 99% of the cases it was probably the result of a throw around.
I counted Zac's insider as a homer for stat purposes but I only post long the balls on the Dinger Page.

I AGREE WITH IT BEING OVER THE FENCE FOR A HOMER. BUT THERE AGAIN FOR STAT PURPOSES A KID GETS CREDIT FOR A HOMER INSIDE THE PARK. TAKING NOTHING AWAY ZAC O. BUT THE STATS ARE USUALLY VERY SBJECTIVE TO WHOEVER IS KEEPING THEM.

There are very few stats that can't be misleading or tainted; Ks, walks, and balls that go out of the park. Ks and walks can be greatly influenced by the umpire but over the course of the year the better hitters will strike out less and the better pitchers will walk fewer batters. But a ball that goes out of the park can't be argued over... Well, that's not even true, right Greenie???

FOR GREENIE TO HIT IT OVER THE FENCE HE NEEDS TO BE STANDING ON SECOND BASE! CRASH, GREENIE STILL GOING TO THERAPY FOR THAT AND YOU HAD TO BRING IT BACK UP. SERIOUSLY THAT WAS A CRAZY CALL ON LIL GREENIE AND HONESTLY I STILL DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE RIGHT CALL WOULD BE OFFICIALLY.

Yes and no. HR, yes. Thrown out of the game? No! Only if he'd been warned AND the ump thought the catcher's safety was in jeopardy. But if I recall catchers wear gear for protection, right?
