Ever thought of getting the kids envolved when comes to cleaning time? I know it worked out really well in the Empire League. The teams take turns. The kids would show up with their parents and coaches and schedules were designated to each team. Same goes for the snack shack. And of course the board members can be there too. The community really comes together and the kids showed pride for the place they play in. I think if the schedule is not designated some will wait until asked. I don't have a kid in the league anymore but have seen and met many, many good people who had sacraficed and gave so much time around their work schedule to help these kids.

You know its interesting that you bring that up. I played years ago in a Catholic baseball league in Valencia. Some of the fondest memories I have of those days was working on the fields with my dad. Everyone seemed to have a great time working together. Of course back then they actually sold beer at the snack shack. ;D

I heard a rumor the major teams would only play during the week. I hope that is not true. We changed that a couple of years ago because the major managers and families didn't want to play weekends. The bottom line is the minor league kids and family get screwed by having to play every weekend. How self-serving can one be?! If the rumor is true, there are a few (those with travel ball interests) who are pushing this schedule. Its all BS and no one is holding them accountable except us. I'm disgusted. OK guys I made the schedule (Interleague) and it had nothing to do with travel ball.. It had to do with scheduling the minors and majors from all 4 leagues in both divisions keeping in mind all the issues...ball parks available, keeping 1 day inbetween games with out pushing the games out 2 plus days and helping out the N/NS on Thusdays to allow the AA to play at Soderquist and NOT paying the City of Turlock for Padretti. You can blame me and only me for this on. And what is funny its been the major parents Hottieing because that can't play on Sat..... Go figure can't please everyone

I didn't mean it as an insult. I think you know me better than that. I had a 3 year old with the flu at home. Mike didn't even know about the work day. He doesn't go on the web site to see whats going on. My point is why didn't anyone try to get the word out a little better. When I mentioned it to Mike he said nobody asked me to go down there and work. What happened to the phone system that used to call us when it was time to sign up? That might be a helpful tool or maybe have flyer's for the coaches to pass out. I know for a fact there were coaches who didnt tell there teams about it. Not everyone goes on the website either. OK I've said my peace and I'm not the Hottie you might think I am but somebody had to stick for the parents who actually do try to help when they can.

I would have been one of the major league parents Hottieing Randy. It's not an issue of pleasing everyone. However, when you have to overcome the dysfunction of N/NS its easier to understand.

Devina ~
You're one of my favorite people in baseball or otherwise but trying to stick up for parents who don't pull their weight is just silly. You spend enough time on the forum and web-site to know whats going on. If you're satisfied with the amount of time you and 90-95% of the parents spend helping the league then that is fine. But you should also know if the other 5-10% took the same position as you there wouldn't be a Little League. The work just wouldn't get done.
