Hey Gang! I decided to take on the Field Rep Responsibilities this year, due to lack of interest within our BOD. I will be the first to admit that technical experience in this arena is limited. However, I am committed to identify a core team I can work with to plan. So here is some of my needs and my request. First, I am looking for a team for 2 to 4 guys I can plan with and evaluate master planning options, field prints and a plannning document for 2007 improvement as well as a 10 year plan. [glow=red,2,300]If you are interested please send me an email via this forum.[/glow] Planning is starting soon. I am also looking to establish a large group of volunteers to enage in one or two extravaganzas for field improvements in terms of rolling out modifications or general maintenance. I am hoping of a volunteer team of 20 to 25 members. In this manner, responsibilities on improvements and upkeep can be maintained. Please get the word out. I am open to all interested as it is a critical and very viable service to keep the field up. Pedro Mendez 632-1851

- Infield annual clay repriming

- Proper Drainage System for All Park
Just some of the many ideas. Please feel Free to chime in and add the more input the better. Thanks Gang.

UPDATE: In an effort to keep everyone inform. Well there continues to be momentum of various sorts items for the Little League this coming 2007 Season. Here are Field Refined Updates on What I am targeting to be done by Nov. 1st, 2006 1. Grading Infield Properly in all directions at Soderquist at a .5% to 1.5% grade. This will require removal of turf strip placed last year so that it sloped at a grade of 1.75% to the existing outfield. 2. Infield Annual Clay Priming 3. Replacing needed Planks in Bleachers, Prime and Paint 4. Anchors in Place for Securing Portables by Trees. To prevent tipping and to chain lock securely during season when games are not in session. 5. Fencing on 3rd Base Side 6. Netting or Fence on Left Field Section to protect Neighbor Home 7. Parking Lot Dust Treatment Some of these items will require volunteer time and labor. Gang I would like to ID a few Saturdays and Sundays for these efforts. Particularly 2, 3 and 4. My hope is that we can get a group like the City, Tiechert or Groveland to work with the league for #1 and 7. The same would be true for 5 or 6. Please let me know if you are interested in helping or may have a lead on # 1, 5, 6 or 7. Pedro (Rocko)

I'd suggest hybrid bermuda for the IF. Very study, takes the heat better than any other grass that I'm aware of and gets very few weeds. Most of the parks from Fresno south have it and it plays well and holds up well too.

Crash,
I was not aware of grants via LL Int. Where do I look? I have checked the web and came up short.
Pedro
PS: Thanks for the tip on grass. I can use the help on infield as well. I know you mentioned 60/40 the other day at the ball park. Do you know of local providers of this mix?

I had the forms for the grant somewhere, I'll have to look. The Lemas might know where to locate them as well.
I'll have to ask where we ordered ours from (I forget!). it was out of Stockton, a place that specializes in athletic field dirt.
