The Cubbies got to have a split/squad practice game at Julien last night. Craig was right about one thing.....those pop-tarts out in Denair would be homeruns at Julien. The Cubs have more power than I thought. The pitching looks strong too. Great idea Craig, having practice at Julien really helped the kids get a feel for something other than a lettuce patch.

Craig, It sounds like you had a great practice Sorry for the NO show!!!!! but when you get a NO show, what a great chance to enjoy the field and measure your team. I will have copies of this years schedule out there tonight we play at 7:30

If you take a "knee" 200 times in one practice, it will look like cow poo!

I will have copies of this years schedule out there tonight we play at 7:30 You might need to hand deliver it to some of our managers to avoid the "I didn't know excuse" because apparently some don't read their e-mails... Or maybe I had it wrong and practice games were optional? Dunno, but I guess lame excuses are always within arms reach! I'm sure now I'll get another personal message telling me I need to get a life....

Another did it last night. If they don't want to play they should at least have the courtesy to call at least 24 hours in advance. Obviously the managers of these no-show teams knew in advance they weren't going to be there. Perhaps common courtesy isn't all that common...

The Am. Dodgers are loaded with talent.......musical talent. I heard several of lil' Murph's teammates had a school band/orchestra concert last night. Maybe they can lead the kids into Julien on opening day. Tonight should be good, I spoke to Ted Dykzuel last night and the Orioles are fired up and ready to play. The mom's can work on their chicken dance tonight, they might be rusty but it's early.

Cubs win Cubs win Cubs win. The game I was not looking forward to turned out good. My kid's team versus the team I used to coach. The kids had a good time even though it was freezing. BTW- Trevor's win steak is still intact (Benchwarmers). Maybe coaching had something to do with that.LOL

Craig I have to say it is a very sad situation with the American Dodgers. Tyler has been practicing with the Padres just to get some work in because of the lack of practice by the Dodgers. We did not find out until about 4:30 Wed. that the Dodgers were not going to show up for the game. What is so sad is Jeff Gomes the manager of the Padres did not even get a phone call from the Dodgers to let him know there would not be a game. The kids were all pumped to play and were really down when they got there and found no game. If a person is not willing to commit to what it takes to teach the kids the game then why is he managing. I can truly say Duane would go into this with all his heart and what is best for the kids. What concerns me now is the kids not being ready to play against some of the top teams and then the safety issue comes into effect. How can these kids be prepared they do not even know who can pitch or who can't. So where is the logic of eliminating the Phillies and loosing a great manager and coach such as Duane. I can say it will be a very miserable year and I personally want to thank Jeff for letting little Murph practice and work out with the Padres because of the lack of practice from his own team. The worst of it all is he has practiced more with the Padres than he has his own team. Does not promise to be a fun year for lil Murph.

Once a week? That's for t-ballers... How can you even get your pitchers arms in shape? The answer is you can't. Same goes for hitters timing. How much can these kids be learning if the only practice once a week?

How much can these kids be learning if the only practice once a week? If the Rangers practiced once a week, they would take a knee thirty-six times. That is enough to get their legs into shape !!!! Up....down....up.....down....up.....down...............

Hey, it works. Baseball is a cerebral game and I have to have the players attention when I'm teaching them something. I refuse to scream at my players like some coaches - so I gotta do what works for me
