damn, did i hit a nerve or something? you sure get your feelings hurt for nothing sometimes. i guess things never change huh? well since you have got to **** talkin, let me start.
first off i pretty much AGREED WITH YOU ON ALL EXCEPT ONE POINT YOU MADE. but let me break it down for you since it appears as if you can't comprehend simple typing sometimes.
remember stuff that is typed on bulletin boards its nearly impossible to "think" of what that person might be saying as you cant "hear" them but only read what they "typed"
Mark,
Again you misunderstood me. My main point was that the players come out the winners when the leaders of the different programs communicate.
i agreed with you my exact quote was
"working together is great", so whats your point? i know what you said and i agreed.
The fact that you are into this which is the better program is a perfect example of what I am talking about.
i wasnt implying that, what i was saying was the
LEVEL OF PLAY in each program is different. here is my exact quote
"Legion is NOT on the same level as travel. it is somewhere between HS Varsity and JV baseball"I did not mean that Legion ball was on the same level of quality of play as travel ball or Senior ball.
lol, talk about SPIN, you should think of going into politics!! this was your exact quote
"Legion is on the same level as Travel Ball." i am not the type of person that will read my own imagination into other's typing. i only read EXACTLY what your wrote and corrected it, since i have gone to several LEGION, VARSITY, and TRAVEL games and tournaments the past 4 or 5 years i would think i would know.
i am sure you have been so busy with LL that you havent had much of a chance to go out and see local HS, travel, legion games, as i am sure i would have seen you out at, at least, a few.
i have seen chris, coop, crash, murphy, anderson, serpa, as well as others out there catching NON LL games though.
Perhaps here in our area, Legion has been better then most travel ball, but I am sure if we went to another area, we would find people with different opinions of their Legion ball program.
let me tell you with 100% certainty that HS Legion is NOT better than travel ball in terms of level of play.
instruction wise it is better as HS Varsity coaches are doing the legion teams with their current/future Varsity players while many travel teams at the HS level pretty much offer, High Level of Play and EXPOSURE to D1 College and Pro Scouts.
I am not saying anything negative about any of the different programs,
neither was i, again, my exact quote was
"working together is great" i also responded to Crash by agreeing with him that "Juniors/Seniors is great". so if i said that Juniors/Seniors, travel, and HS Legion is great, who was i taking a crack at?
??
In fact I was applauding the Legion coach of that season, Jared's parents and the Senior Manager for working together so that Jared had the best of all of the programs.
That is the point I was trying to make.
thats great and my exact quote again was
"working together is great".
Tony is really easy to get along with and has done alote with LL for the kids.
Brad has also, he is a stand up guy, proud to call him a friend (well except for when he gave the "get outta here with that Dodgers crap" at the Dodgers/Giants game at AT&T last week (LOL J/K brad).
and as for Coach Mendo, well i would have to agree with many local HS baseball experts that have been around for a long time, in that i agree with them that he IS one of the BEST HS Coaches in the ENTIRE AREA.
oh ya and BTW the Legion coach IS Varsity Head Coach Rob Mendonca. the Head Varsity Coach IS the Legion coach EVERY YEAR for every school that runs a program, unless they designate a coach or a parents to do it
To the original question, I did not say that Legion Ball is inferior to Travel ball, nor the other way around, only that they are equal when it comes to the types of programs.
of course you didnt, you said it was on the same level, here are your exact words again
"Legion is on the same level as Travel Ball."and i simply stated that it was NOT on the same level. the programs are not even close to being the same.
Legion ball is for the development of the upcoming VARSITY TEAM OF THAT PARTICULAR HIGH SCHOOL. the number 1 factor in Legion is DEVELOPMENT of the HS team
travel at the HS age is for the development and exposure of the individual players to college and pro scouts by playing against the best to be the best you can be as an individual and team player.
the scouts that were out scouting Austin Keaton Saturday dont care about what he did in "Legion ball", but they were there Saturday to see what he could do against a guy that throws 90-93 MPH and to time him out the box to 1st base and grade his defensive work against advanced hitters that hit the ball a hell of a lote harder than your average HS player.
Just my opinion, but that is a huge difference!
I assumed that the intelligence of the readers of the forum, would of known that, and would of been able to read that into my post. Sorry for feeding into the proverbial problem of assuming.
MEL
i guess i too assumed that you knew a little about baseball outside of LL, obviously i was wrong.
maybe, i too, overestimated your ability to read EXACT posts WORD FOR WORD without jumping to conclusions and making up assumpions in an attempt to, hell i dont even know what your attempt was..................................
