"the one that got away", I've had the pleasure of watching a 12yr old on my sons minor team who should have been in the majors.....I don't know the history on him but this kid has come to play every day on a team that has only won 1-game, he is a team leader that helps the younger kids-he calls all the plays/keeps everyone on their toes and has a great attitude, he always has a smile on his face...This team(AE Minor White Sox) was put together without a coach and had no pitching to start with...I'm proud of all the boys for hanging in and working hard...
The boys name is Tim Mitchell...he recently hit two dingers out of Denair that would have been out of Julien too...
I'm all for making the Major Managers take a 2nd and 3rd and 4th look at the older boys....there is more than a couple 10 year olds that would have made more progress in the minors...

I hope that for next year, this turns out to be a pilot program as other pilot programs in the past. Yes, I am all for giving a 12 year old player a chance to play his/her last year in the majors, but can't see making it mandatory. When we have player who throws very hard as V,O and SJ with control, moving the ball outside and inside, it is the other players who can also all most as hard and do not have the control and hitting a 12 year who froze on an inside pitch. We as coaches can teach players how to roll and tuck but it is up to them to do it themselves.
What about the players who have less talent and don't move as quick? Those are the players that would scare me as a coach and the parents who want to know why I didn't teach their player to roll and tuck quicker. It could be a safety issue. I hope that it can be settled as an option of X amount of players per team at the local level. Who knows lets see where it takes us.
