Afivavir is the first antiviral drug to treat Covid-19 that was registered by the Russian Ministry of Health after showing great effectiveness during clinical trials, announced the Russian Direct Investment Fund (FRID).
"Afivavir is not only the first antiviral drug registered in Russia to treat coronavirus, but perhaps the most promising medicine to cure Covid-19 worldwide ," declared the general director of FRID. According to him, this drug was developed and clinically tested "in record time," which allowed it to become the first medicine based on favipiravir—an antiviral developed in Japan—registered worldwide.
Afivavir, according to the FRID, has demonstrated great effectiveness in affecting the reproduction mechanisms of the coronavirus. In addition, he noted that initially it will not be for sale in pharmacies and "it will only be used in Country Email List hospital centers under medical observation."
SANCHEZ . The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez , stressed that the news arriving about the vaccine "fuels hope", and points out that "it is beginning to be possible to have a vaccine in a shorter period of time than expected ." The Spanish leader also wanted to remember that there will not be complete normality until a vaccine is available, and highlighted our country's participation in several joint European projects.
Specifically, he said that ten Spanish research teams funded by the Government's Covid-19 fund are in the "preclinical phase" of projects seeking the vaccine. "In addition to funds, Spain contributes talent... There are Spanish teams working on the development of prototypes, each one from a different orientation, but maintaining coordination among themselves that has never occurred before," highlighted the head of the Spanish Executive.
