OK, let's start a list of the best (genuine) moments of 2006 in Turlock Little League. I say genuine so that Mike/me won't turn it into a list of wisecracks. Let's get real for a change. That doesn't mean they can't be funny... One of the best in my book was when Maureen Kramer, aka Crazy Lady, climbed the fence at Soderquist; the first time when the opposing team wouldn't pitch to Kevin in the city championship... and the second time when she climbed to the top of the fence (along the first base bleachers) when the opposing team did pitch to Kevin - and he hit a bomb. While funny, that moment captures the angst and joy that all parents feel at one time or another. While some may call it crazy, it was pure and unadulterated. What happens to our kids can drive us to do crazy things. This is just one example - but it came from the heart. I think we all get a little (a lot?) crazy as parents at times. This moment will be relived time and time again, not just in the Kramer household I'm sure. People can say what they will about her actions that night, but what inspired it was love. Love for the game, love for her son, love for a very precious time that she knew was slipping away... Cheers Maureen, you're my kind of lady Mo, and Glenn, you should be proud. Kevin did you proud throughout his time in Turlock Little League. He exemplifies what Little League is all about. I was glad to see him go out on top. He deserved it.

Good Topic Craig.......2006 was a UNBELIEVABLE season for Nicks LL TEAM - NS YANKEES. We were able to live the dream of playing in the CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS--Whats the quote.........
"If you believe in the impossible, the incredible can come true"
For me personally to see your son get the ball for a must win play off, and then go on to pitch in the City Championships as a 11 year old....hard to beat.
Stay Tuned for 2007

I would have to there were three It seems the ltl scrapper, who was nine was always coming up in the critical situations and came through. In his first at-bat in the majors he had a base hit and RBI against the Angels and against the Yanks with two outs bases juiced game tied, he hits one up the middle off the pitcher's glove into the shortstop hole to drive in the winning run
and the third, which was the scariest moment for a parent, John Corvello hit him in nuts with a fastball. Thank god, he was wearing a cup. He turns to me with a big sh** eating grin and says, Dad, it hit me in the cup and then trots down to first base.
Next at bat he stands in and gets a base hit. As they say, that kids got brass ones.

Nah, I have to say seeing my son's first jack. It was so unexpected and such a thrill. I smacked him so hard on the ass when he rounded third the hand print stayed for three days.
He hadn't practiced his home run trot and sprinted around the bases. By the fourth one he got it down but milked it so much I was almost embarrassed. You could have clocked his trot with a sun dial.

That was a storybook run. They won their first game, then lost (to Atwater) in their second. They then had to win five consecutive games (in six days) to make it to the finals. In their next to last game they squared off again against Atwater. It was a thriller, and we came back from behind by two runs in the bottom of the last inning on Saturday (thanks to Dakota Edwards double... I thought tha sucker was going out!). Revenge is sweet. That advanced us to final on Sunday. We lost it in a heartbreaker, to Riverpark, by one run. It was a see saw battle though and our boys proved they could play with anyone. It was our sixth game in seven days – but it was a great and unbelievable run.

Yep - We've talked about Brass so much but I still giggle every time. My two favs from all stars have to be beating RP on the gem thrown by Jesse L. and the losing to them by a run in the D10 championship game. The 11Us had a good run of their own.
Jesse L's two home runs in one inning against AE and Jenson losing a no-no after 5 2/3 against Madera on an infield hit. We happily took the 3-0 win from a rather arrogant/obnoxious Madera coach.

I think another good one is the Dodgers and Yankees game that lasted two days, I thought that game SUCKED!! It was a great year tho. Meeting all of you clowns was tops. Watching Crazy lady climb the fence was great. I was sitting with Bird in his box seats and we both said WTF was that. Watching Brass take a J.C. fastball off the Nuts and then laugh about it has to be the highlight of the year. I still cringe and check on the twins every time I think about it. I just hope this next year will be as good as last year and watching the boys grow up and take this great game to the next level should be fun to watch.

Can't forget the moment that really launched the forums popularity. The stolen HR that lit up this forum for a while.

I don't talk about my kids much but one memory that will stay with me all the days of my life... I was coaching Ryan’s 12U team in Madera on the west field in the District Finals. Brett's 10U team was playing on the east field in their finals. Both games started at the same time so I was SOL when it came to seeing Brett play. I did tell our umps I might leave the field between innings in the hopes of catching some action in my youngest son's game. I don't recall the inning, but sometime during the game we happened to end our inning when I saw one of our Dads (Alex) in left field jump out of his lounge chair, pump his fist in the air and scream “yes!” He looked my way and yelled, “Brett” so I made a mad dash for the other field. I didn’t know what he’d done, but I knew it must’ve been good! Though I didn’t get to see him hit his first home run, I was at the fence when he crossed the plate. I’ve never seen a kid more excited. He ran over to me and shrieked, “DAD, I DID IT!” I gotta admit, seeing his excitement made me choke up (bullshit - alot). When I returned to continue coaching Ryan’s game he just happened to be leading off the next inning… and he launched a homer on the very next pitch. That's gonna be a pretty hard memory to beat for this Dad. Brett ended all stars going 17 - 23 with 9 BBs for a .739 avg over nine games. Ryan had 5 HRs in 7 games, going 16 for 23 (.696) with18 RBI. He also struck out 31 in 19 innings and won three games. He put quite an exclamation point on his Little League career. Savor these moments, they'll make growing old a little more tolerable I turned 45 today. WTF!
