I guess break away bases are being mandated for the 2008 season. If either league is buying new bases the year it might be worth setting the new pegs now rather than later.

The ones we tried at Denair a few years ago sucked. After less than half a season the bag came off on every slide... and when you rounded the base it wasn't nearly as stable as the traditional anchored base.
How much more can they sissify LL???

That is B.S. those bases cause the worst sprain ankles. Especially, when you are rounding the bases. I think it you teach the proper slide technique, you would need the breakaway bases.

would not need the bases. I have seen kids get torn up from peg, and the base where the bag breaks away.

Good points. In all my years of baseball I've never sen a kid ge hurt b/c of an anchored bag. What's next, Incrediballs? ?
