Should the Galarraga perfect game call be reversed by Selig. I know what the purests are going to say but I say yes. If for no other reason than to save Jim Joyce from spending the rest of his life in the pergatory of public opinion.

That would set quite a precedent but I agree with you - you make a great point that I would have never thought of... Joyce's life will be a lot easier. I'm sure he'll feel better if it happens. From the angle he saw it may have appeared in real time that Galaragga didn't have control of the ball and perhaps that's why he called him safe. I doubt Selig will do it...

In the interviews following the game Galarraga was a prince. I have never seen an athlete with more class. His attitude towards Joyce should be a lesson for all of us. He's my new favorite player. I hope Selig steps in but like you Craig I don't think he will.

If you have instant replay and overturn calls then what would the point of having umpires be. As nice as that sounds....the game wouldn't be the same without me motherf@$&*ing the toads in blue. My bitter hatred towards umpires should keep them employed.
As for Griffey.....he's younger than me. To think what kind of numbers he would have put up if not for the injuries. He will still be a first ballot HOF'er.

We have technology and should use it when appropriate... it's never been more appropriate than in this incident.

I think perhaps they can use a flag like in football (or a rosin bag) or more likely just a challenge timeout one once per game. So you get a maximum of two interuptions per game and due to the strong tradition most games won't see a single challenge. Unless Craig is managing and he's told to make his challenge in the parking lot.
I'm with Craig on this one though.

I hate the off-season.....Chris tends to agree with Crash around this time of year.
