Great - It's a lot easier to take shots from the cheap seats. You'll get to see how it works next year. There are a lot of things that will chew up your stomach as well. Then I can sit here and pop off about your decisions. I'm really looking forward to it.

2 a days ;D ......Chris when did you become a football coach? Will the boys get in trouble if they miss the early practice? I can see what I can do but school is a little more important to the wife If you want I will call Coach Bailey and see if he will come out and give some pointers on conditioning. The boys will be puking but they will be in shape.

Oops - I forgot we had kids in school still. I changed that already. I don't know why I assumed they were all out of school. We'll save the 2 a day practices for the weekends. Conditioning will be a big part of getting kids ready though. They're going to have to adapt to the heat because I have a feeling its going to be very hot this year.
The football kids should find it a peice of cake. Other may find it more difficult but hey if you want to pitch into the 6th you better be in shape. We'll get them there.

Its a bit easier to choose a team in NS. Had the leagues been combined you may have felt differently.
This is how the process works:
1. Three players are voted on by the kids and they're a lock. 2. Managers nominate the players they want to be all stars. If a player is not nominated he can not be an all star. 3. Managers vote on 6 kids. 4. The AS manager fills out the team from the remaining nominations.
All players have three chances to make the team. By the time the AS manager gets to select there are 2-3 positions left. You fill those positions based on a teams need for position players such as outfielders, infielders, pitchers, etc.

I am not here to complain yet here to thank all of those who have been calling all day to show their support of Grayson not being nominated and or not being selected to the National All-Stars. Good luck to the boys who were selected.

Big difference between running in a cool gym in shorts and t shirts versus in the hot sun with full pads on, Mr. V. So conditioning between the two does not compare.
But, conditioning is a must for any sport to achieve excellence. This does not need to be drawn out; rather, it should be planned with a purpose. It helps you sustain a longer level of performance by improving stamina and core strength.
In my experience, youth baseball has not done enough in this area. Practicing typically exemplify throwing the ball around the bases, infield and outfield with the team evenly split between to lines, BP one player at a time, and situational plays. The result is vast majority of players standing around and waiting for their turn.

Pedro, I totally agree. Baseball only boys are very soft. They don't know the meaning of hard work. Let Andy get these guys in shape ;D Lil G. is in piss poor shape right now so this will be a good thing for him. I hope they let him run with them even tho he's not a pitcher.

Baseball only boys are very soft. They don't know the meaning of hard work. Four games in one day in 90-plus heat is soft? After playing two the previous day? Or taking over 100 cuts, then shagging them yourself when it's 100 plus, just to do it over again and again??? Playing five games a weekend then getting home and asking for pop flies and grounders... soft? lol Studs come in all shapes, sizes, and sports... FB doesn't have the franchise on 'em

They don't know the meaning of hard work. baseball more than the other 2 sports requires the most work. baseball is a game of skills where the more work you put in the better you get, or at least more so than BB and FB.
