Greenie, First...Congrats. Kids needed a win under their belt to get going. Let's keep representing for Turlock National and National South. Wow! I spoke to Joe on my drive home from practice and Turlock 9/10 AS were up 6-1. Looks like you guys had a scare. Please provide details.

It was a great game. ltl Greenie pitch a great game and had a couple of rips. Too bad his defense gave up his shut-out. Ltl Finn had a three-run jack, Lil Contra had a jack. Hooven came and pitched a great sixth and seventh and had a some good hits even ltl boo-hoo had a couple of great hits. Vega (the wall) threw out two baserunners.
The kids played great. You have give ltl Ax some big kudo's sick the whole way down and put in an 1 1/2 innings at first. Get well soon.
All in all it was a team effort.

What a game. First I need to say thanks to Crash. Lil G had a major "Tude" problem going on and said something after our last game that he shouldn't have said and when I got wind of this we came home and had a heart to heart talk. Then I was looking at Crashes site for his Cubs and he has some great links on it. One of them was for Attitude so I left the page on and when Pat went by the puter he saw it and sat down and read it over and over. He also went to a couple of other links and got some great info on hitting. The next day he has a great practice and his his Tude was back where it should be. Now to the game..We all met at Soderquist except for Scrapper who got his time screwed up and left Soderquist at 4:15. The rest of us arrived at Soderquist at 4:30 and waited for SCRAPPER..We left for the game at 4:45 after finding out Scrapper was on his way. While we were waiting Alex left a little of his lunch in the parking lot. I'll leave out the part when Joe stops in Merced and Alex leaves some more of his lunch. When the game starts Alex is looking really pale but he sticks it out for 1.5 innings. Nick Benson came in and did a great job at 1B. Christian threw out a couple of runners in the second trying to steal. Blake then hit his first ever HR and he would of made Jeffery Lenard proud. He had one flap down and it took him 5 minutes to run the bases. We got out of a couple of jams Derick made some nice plays at SS. Patrick was on an Adrenalin high the whole game he was running all over the place and best of all (thank crash) he was always right there to pick someone up who had a bad play!! We were up 6-1 going to B-5 and our defense fell apart and a nice hit and the game was tied. But unlike our last game the boys stayed into the game and got out of the jam. In the T-6 we had the bases loaded with 2 outs and Derick hit a rocket down the 3rd, base line but the kid at third made a great catch to end the rally. Todd came in and shut them down in B-6. Now the fun begins we start a little rally and Patrick gets a bases loaded triple! Nick G. walks and up comes Derick again. This time he hits it where they can't catch it for his first HR. We end up scoring 9 runs But wait we may have made a mistake, Scrapper pitch ran for the first batter (I think) and when we bat around He goes and bats for the kid he ran for. The problem is that's not who took his place in the line-up so he is batting out of order. Chowchilla files a protest after a long debate. Todd goes out in the B-7 and finishes the game for us and the final score we thought was 15-7... The Chowchilla coach showing a lot of class withdraws his protest after the game.
If I went on here to much.... To Bad.

The ltl scrapper thought he was late, and he hates to be late. He was being pesky and so they left. He can be a handful. (Part now played by whiner parent). The way things turned out, he didn't need to be there. At least he got his MPR this time. That situation with the protest thing really rattled him and especially after what happened at the Madera Game not getting an AB, He got in the car and cried most of way home. I asked him why, and he said when he was not sure what to do either hit or go back to the dugout, he heard someone say on our side, that we are lucky he didn't get his at bat or else the game was going to be forfieted.
I explained the rule why someone might have said that and that it was not his fault, it was the coaches, I am hoping today, he can bounce back, cause I have never seen a kid (even though he is mine) who tries so hard and has a great attitude and a pretty good ball player being ignored and forgotten on the bench by a coaching staff, It is just not right. Like I said before in an earlier post, Can't wait til soccer season.

Scrapper... I agree with you 100%. The kid keeps his head up all the time and his tude is great. You have to scratch your head at some of the things the staff is doing but thats why they get paid the big bucks

Batting out of order isn't a protest. The umpire rectifies the situation by applying the correct outs and correctuing the error. It would not have lead to a forfiet. Lil Scrapper got screwed again and that is inexcusable.

How about this for getting screwed....
Did you hear how American ruined the all star chances of two kids, only 10 year olds, because they said they didnt have the right forms to play. Turned out the kids did have the right forms in afterall. It was two kids who do not live with their real parents, one group home kid too. So I guess that was the problem. If not someone enlighten us all.
As if they dont have enough problems in their life, they get cut from the All Star squad at 10 years old because of somebodies mistake. Why couldnt someone just help them out instead of replacing them. Cant even be an alternate either cuz the spots are filled now.
Turns out the two kids attend my school, one was in my class and the other in the class next door. They are the best kids around too. Had I known in time what was happening to them I would have fought that battle.
I saw one of the boys passing by and we talked about it and he was devastated! He gets to sit around the group home all summer and has no sports to play, no team to belong to, No more baseball! He was soo in to baseball and both of them deserved to be an All Star, but nothing....
How could anyone let this happen espicially to these kids.
ANYONE WHO WANTS TO TELL ME THAT LL IS FOR EVERYONE AND EVERYONE GETS TO PLAY NEEDS TO ASK WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE TWO KIDS. LL should protect it's most vulnerable kids, not cut them loose. I will gladly take these kids and find them a team and pay for it all myself if they choose to continue to play ball....
Just terrible! No excuse for this one.....
Need to hear from the people involved and what the hell they were thinking....
There is one thing that I will Never tolerate and that is UNJUSTICE TOWARD KIDS. I HAVE SEEN IT TWICE FROM THIS AMERICAN LEAGUE. Nothing has been done about it so it will continue to happen!!!! Everyone who sits back and does nothing is just as bad.
Had the kids had loud parents to complain for them this never would have happened. The league took advantage of these kids!

Lance,
I hear you. There is a lot of paperwork to get through in registeration and All Stars. There are elements to the process that can be improved. It is my understanding that requesting originals ensures that players are indeed legal. This has been the practice for some time. Any suggestions on improvement of the process here folks? I know I have thought about exploring the use of scanning equipment at the beginning of season next year; however, this brings a new risk to the process for families and the leagues.
My final comment is that this is an unfortunate situation for these boys. However, at which point does this become a legal guardian responsibility.
Seems to me that the struggle is the same k-12 education has with children attending their schools. Parents or Guardians not upholding their responsiblity and schools have to take on teaching the standards of ethics, value and discipline versus setting the standard that students should comply by.
Respectfully,
El Rocko

Scrapper~ We are leaving Soderquist at 4:15 today and it would be a pleasure to have you in our convoy ;D. I think Lil' Scrapper might play all 6 today, What do you think? I think the league needs the re-think the idea of carring only 11 players. For those of you who don't know we have only 9 kids left to play the next 3 games and 2 of them are sick. I know the thinking is to give the players more playing time but if you know 1 kid is going on vacation ( the other had to leave unexpectedly) you have to take this into consideration when picking the team! We have 60 kids playing in the majors(national) and 33 of them make All Stars , Whats it going to hurt if you make the roster 12 or 13 per team?

Greenie ~ It's not too late to add a replacement player. There are other players who could be called in provided they were nominated during the all star vote. I agree carrying more would help in your situation. However, I fear the MPR would really get screwed up then

Lance ~ In all honesty, this issue should have been resolved at registration. The league's are required to see original birth certificates. If the league decides to accept a copy then they need to work like hell to get an original in time for the all stars. I know a little something about group home kids. It is extremely difficult to get "the system" to provide appropriate documentation. A few years ago a couple of kids from our program played Little League. Melody worked hard to assure that the paper work we provided was acceptable. That is a process that need to start very early as the courts move at their own pace. That having been said, the program and child's social worker probably could have gotten the documents they need if they were even aware of the situation. However, that process would have needed to get going right after registration. It stinks that these kids don't get to play but I wouldn't necessarily blame the league. Its an overwhelmed system that worked against him.

First I would like to make note I am not putting blame only on the American League. I know they have rules to follow, but as Chris states if we allow a child to register for little league with a copy of the birth certificate I think something needs to be done to make sure these kids get the chance to play all-stars just like any other kid. Knowing this one child and the love he has for the game not to mention how much it has hurt him of this situation it upsets me. This boy has been through alot in his childhood.

It's my understanding that our league went to bat for the kids but it was the District reps that vetoed their eligibility. I believe American even went back a second time and got vetoed again. I agree, it's rotten...
