Agreed! I had a similar experience at a junior game with some of our younger umps. I have to say the problem seems to be worse with a two teams specifically.

I might be a little biased here but I truly believe we have the best parents in the league. You don't hear ANY coaching from the stands. You might hear a few moans on a close call but thats it. I love it when we are the home team and I coach first base next to the opposing parents. I wonder if they even know how ridiculous they sound. Hottieing on every close call, yelling at the kids for striking out or making an error. These are the same people who Hottie about everything but when it's time to help out with the league they are no where to be found.

You know I have to laugh... Sorry but I do... I have been on both sides of that fence and yes I am sure from the bleachers on eather side if a Blue makes a close or even a bad call you will hear Bit**ing and yet on that some call you will hear how great that call was??? Humm So who should be policing who??? I believe the Blues are part of the game and with that comes praise and ridicule (sp) But all in all I have not seen one team get so far out of line as need policing. Joe I'm sure that you have not set quietly for the past 8 weeks eather good or bad ? its human nature. Enjoy the game "its only LIttle League".. Where did I hear that ?

I agree that there is a fine balance between what is too much. I do think that A/AE have little thicker skins when it comes to riding the umpires. I think it has something to do with volunteers vs paid umps but I could be wrong.
I have seen a game or two that I would say fans could have used some policing. I'm especially sensitive when we have youngsters out there. On the other hand there is at least one umpire who I am aware of who has no business on the field.

Lets face it on almost every close call half the fans think its a great call and half think you blew it. And for those who have never umpired before trust me its a different view from the dug out and a different view from the stands and believe it or not those with eagle eyes that can see a strike from the out field fence it's different then being a few feet or inches from the play. That doesn't mean good umpires don't miss one now then out of how many calls in a game. I'm just saying different angles give different opinions and yes I still piss and moan when I think the ump missed one when I'm coaching just not as loud as I use too.

Being disappointed with an umpire's call is expected from half of the fans and the coach that the call went against it is how they express themselves that make the different. Good coaches get their point across to good umpires without disrespecting them or the game. When less trained umpires do not get the little commits, fans and coaches raise the level of the complaints. This usually causes more mistake as the umpire is thinking about the last call and not concentrating on the game. This is the norm, but there are those fans that want to get a piece of flesh for their $18 or in some cases for free.

Woot......good subject people !!!! BTW- From past experience, I being a past board member. Most of the crying and whining from the stands came from board members who hired the under payed, under aged umpires to start with. Police themselves................HUH No disrespect to you Randy..........You and a few others are doing a fine job !

Look, I paid my registration fee. If I want to rip on a ump for a hilatious call , damn it, I'm gonna rip. ;D ;D. For example, if a blue doesn't call a game due to rain. That's Crap. He is not looking out for the kids safety, Right Bubba. ;D ;D . He needs to be ripped. ;D ;D. Bubba, I've seen you ump and yea you should be ripped. ;D ;D But in all seriousness, I think this year, at least what I've seen, the umpiring has been pretty darn good and hats need to tipped to the guys in blue, even you Bubba. however, this comes from a one-eyed cyclops with a patch over my eye., I have also heard a fan say to me IF you would have pull your head out of your arse, you might have seen that play. What's with the bruise on the knee. That wasn't a Ltl V fastball off the ump's knee.

I think I saw that pitch when Jerry got hit. It knocked him on his fanny but he got right back up and finished the game. When folks are Hottieing about calls and I have as a coach keep in mind that sometimes the umpire "takes one" for both teams.
I agree with Scrapper that the umpiring has been aweful good this year. But GDI Scrapper we may get Bubba again a couple times this year and now you've gone and pissed him off. ;D

Bubba Once again Crapper proves what an idiot he is. We have the top notch of blue which includes Jerry, Coop, Brad and Chris. Then we have a notch right below the big guys that I put Jimmy and yourself in. Keep working hard and in no time you will be included with the big boys. I enjoy our games when you are working them and I'm looking forward to the next one you call.
