How soon is too soon. It likely our last year in Little league so I'd like to make it something special. So how soon is to soon to start getting the kids ready. I have 10 returners and I'm thinking of getting going in mid-January. Now I hope I get reappointed

What is the little league rule on when a team can assemble to practice? I thought you had to wait until after the draft.

I've heard rumors that you're as good as gone. The new coaches coordinator wants to clean house. I might be able to get you a AAA team tho.

I do have to give you credit Chris. While most of us are practicing on shitty fields you have your boys out there at Pedretti getting in some good practice.

Chris, ten returning players is alot. The american and american east also have teams with the same situation. If I was to coach the Orioles again and draft two kids, I'd say they would be a lock. I believe the Padres are also returning most of thier team and the Cubs as well. With Crash coming back you have to throw thier chances out, I mean seriously with the talent he had last year and to end up in third place??? Crash must have read Tony LaRussa's book on how to over-coach. BTW-Craig might want to do what Duane Alamieda did last year and hire someone to draft for him(4 solid picks + 1 hell of a trade) I'd love to help you out but it might be too close to the Lau Jr. camp for you to recover financially to afford my expertise.

Should have been 11 but Ricky L moved to Texas. He lead our league in every hitting category and played a mean infield and was our third pitcher. Its going to be tough without him and we would have been nails had he returned. We'll just have to work a little harder. I'm sure anything we do before try-outs is "on our own."

Back to baseball... I don't think there is a rule in regards to when a team can practice... but I believe doing so before the season begins opens a coach up to liability b/c Little League insurance is not in effect. Also, a returning coach is not guaranteed a position so until he is apporved the insurance doesn't cover him anyway. I'm not a lawyer but I think this is the way it works... BUT if you have a travel team comprised up of these players and you've paid the Super Series insurance and the parents have signed waivers/releases then you're good to go

BUT if you have a travel team comprised up of these players and you've paid the Super Series insurance and the parents have signed waivers/releases then you're good to go exactly if your Super Series insurance is still in effect add the LL players to your roster and say you are practicing with your travel team
