WOW What a great day for baseball, we had great games, great food. A few home runs at both fields what more could we have asked for.

HOW DID THE AMERICAN SIDE LIKE THE NEW PITCH COUNT RULE AND DID IT HAVE ANY EFFECTS ON THE GAMES?

I hear it impacted the outcome of a couple of games pretty significantly. Cubs v Angels and Padres v Yankees.

It really was a spectacular day and I especially enjoyed the company at dinner. It sounds like both leagues got things done just in time to have very successful kickoffs to the new season. Now the kids to get to play the games and all the hard work has paid off.
Congrats to both boards for making it happen and making opening day so enjoyable. PLAY BALL!

If not for the pitch count I think the outcome of the Cubs/Angels and Padres/Yankees games would have been different. Austin was shutting us (the Cubs) down and Damian was doing the same for the Yankees (against the Pads). Their teams were ahead when they came out but both teams ended up losing. It's a brand new game we're playing this year... Should make for an interesting season.

Agreed. I think finesse pitchers and those who tend to rely on a bigger array of pitches will struggle with pitch count. If you're not two or three deep you're in trouble.
Jens & Zach through 75 pitches in six innings last night but they tend to go right at batters.

Thanks to all who worked countless hours to make OPENING DAY a huge success, The weather was perfect Soderquist Field never looked better...
as for pitch count, it can be trickey...if you are blessed as the YANKEES are in the pitching dept it sure makes life easier....We were able to throw 2-2-2. IMO- You need 3 deep minimum
Good Luck to all

It was a great day for baseball. I would like to thank all of the people that put this together. If it wasn't for your hard work from both boards and managers from both leagues, It wouldn't have been done.
And to top it off, we got the W playing a scrappy NS Angels team.

Opening day was about as good as it could get weather wise. Yankees, Giants and Dodgers all have good pitching depth. Yankees pitching looked really good against a very inexperienced Cardinal team. Cardinals pitching is not deep. Giants two hurlers threw strikes and challenged the Angels hitters. Dodgers staff did a great job as well with some excellent defense up the middle. Everyone on the Dodgers was hitting the ball as well. Great day and great fun to be back at the yard.

I'm relieved it's over. It's been a stressful couple of weeks making sure the new projects finished on time. The baseball Gods took care of us. Bryd's Nest was the hot spot of the day. We will have to add more bleachers next year ;D ;D. Byrd, we will have to educate the newer people to your enailable rights to sit where you please out there Chris, dinner was a classic. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. I keep thinking of that $7500 you're going to save Thanks to all that worked hard to get everything ready for the best opening day we have ever had ;D ;D

Jim ~ I can't ever remember the field looking so good. It was a great day and thanks to you for getting the field ready in time. From what I could see the $7500 was well spent.

"I hear it impacted the outcome of a couple of games pretty significantly. Cubs v Angels and Padres v Yankees." Chris the pitch count not only effected those games but the next games also. both the Angels and the Yankees starters pitch the max. And both teams have games today. This year should prove to be fun See you Wednesday

I hear he's going to be OK. He's at Madera Children's Hospital. That a rough way to start you season but I hear he's a gamer and is concerned about missing any more game. Thoughts and prayers are with him.

My prayers go out to the youngster who got hit.
Greenie where was dinner?? I sit in the Nest all day and didn't get invited to dinner?? Now I am hurt.
Randy yes indeed the pitch count at times can effect the game being played as well as the next game and maybe the next game as well depending when you play and how deep the staff is. It definently changes the way you have to manage your rotation. Saving the arms is the main thing and that it does. I like it personaly.
