Speaking of Football Games... Everyone is invited to the Bud Bowl (Turlock's Vikings and Niners) on 11/4 at Delhi High. The Pee-Wee's start at 3pm and if they both win this weekend the game will be one for the ages as both teams will be undefeated at 10-0. Come and watch Turlock's future stars battle it out in the last game of the regular season. There are a few boys from baseball who are playing and we would love to have a full house!!! BTW... Sit on the Vikings side as we will be kicking their arse ..

Decisions regarding Little League coaches will soon be made by our league presidents and BOD.
What qualities/skills do you think are most important for a Little League coach to possess? [glow=red,2,300]Perspective, Strong moral values, willing to mentor, interest in building an appreciate for the game and individual leadership. The goal should be building great memories and strengthen the player as an individual....long lasting impact its more than just a stick and ball. [/glow]
Should coaches use running, push ups, sit ups etc. for discipline purposes? [glow=red,2,300]These type of activities maybe worked into conditioning not necessarily as discipline.[/glow]
How often should coaches practice? [glow=red,2,300]4 to 5 Days a week until seasonbegins. Working on fundamentals and assessing player talent. A lot of time on mentoring and building team chemistry.[/glow]
Should the minimum play requirement be raised to 3 defensive innings per game? [glow=red,2,300]No 2 is enough.[/glow]
Should 9 year olds be drafted into the majors? [glow=red,2,300]If exceptional...yes....perhaps 2 to 3 per year, given our current major league level of play.[/glow]
Should Turlock Little League dump the TOC in favor of a city wide tournament? [glow=red,2,300]No, TOC is an experience in and of itself. Great opportunity for players and family to see other parks, programs and players.[/glow]
What should be done to increase participation in Turlock Little league? [glow=red,2,300](1) Interleagueing should have a great impact. (2) Using our local coaching talent to train new parents to be good AA, AAA and Major league coaches. Clinics (3) Park Improvements[/glow]

I agree that getting quality coaching from most of the lower divisions and some of the major divisions is difficult. Unfortunately we seem to get the fathers that volunteer for the wrong reason. I'm not sure this will ever change in the lower levels, but we should look at the Coopers, Salazars, and Lemas as examples of what we want. These men have given above and beyond. My main concern is that at least on the the American side, I would be hesitant to let the president and his right hand man evaluate a fantasy baseball team much less a little league team and its coaches. I also see an obsession with Riverpark, well we can forget about it until we get the B.O.D.,coaches,and parents on the same page. I think each league has the talent to compete at that level but its up to the adults to facilitate that. JMO
