How are the numbers looking this year? On track with last year? Up? Down?
Just curious if anyone has heard...

Craig I spoke with Shelly Hurd and Paul Cooper and they stated numbers for the American and American East are way down from last year. I have not heard from the National side.

I've been saying for years an ad in the Modesto Bee & Turlock Journal makes sense and/or postcards to previous particpants. PSAs and fliers only do so much. Most fliers never make it home... Ads may be costly but I believe they'd prove to be more effective than what we've been doing. But what do I know???
Full time Travel ball is lookin' better all the time...

Word is Amer/Amer East is down about 80 players. Junior/Seniors will hopefully sign up late like always but at the major level we appear to be down about 12 players on each side... One whole team. What I find amazing is with all the growth within Turlock why our numbers are dwindling. I know not that many ahve gone to travel ball full time... Turlock and the surrounding area has grown by about 25,000 in the last five years so we should be seeing alot of new blood. What are we doing wrong?

The majors remained solid - South may pick up a team at AAA or Maj level. Juniors/Senior are a problem but yeah they always sign up late.

Well, I am going to sign my boys up at the try outs on Saturday for A/AE so that's two more kids. We have the option of playing in either leauge. A or AE?

This just in: I guess a significant number of kids have been contacted and intend to sign-up Saturday at tryouts. So it looks like National's numbers will be about the same as last year.

Last year we had 5 teams in National and 3 in National South....what would it hurt if they made the divisions equal in the number of teams? I know we have boundries but it only seems right to have the same amount of teams in each league. Also Chris so what you are saying is kids can sign up at tryouts and they could make a team before the kids who signed up on time? Do we have enough sponsers lined up to make new teams?

Good Morning Brian No, anyone who signed up on time is guaranteed a team. While anyone who sign-ups late are not guaranteed a team I think they'll almost certainly be placed on a team. LL recommends a 2:1 ratio of minor to major teams. Adding teams to NS would really water down the level of competition this year.

my guess is that if the "Late Signee" is a really good player he WILL get "selected" for a team before most because of the DRAFT.
but if the late signups are so-so they are not guaranteed a team unless there is an open spot on a AAA or AA team.
is that correct???

I don't see how they can not let some kid who signed up 2 weeks ago not play.
What are they going to say... sorry you didnt sign up in time, but we are taking this kid who just came today becuase he is good. I hope no kid gets left out.

Good evening Chris That is what I thought but I thought I would ask. Makes sense to me tho.....I would like to see as I am sure many would to have more teams in both leagues so we dont have to play the same teams 3 and 4 times a year. See you out there soon bro. Looking forward to the season starting as I have nothing to do but sleep in the evenings right now...lol....later bro.

what i meant was that if a player signs up saturday and tries out, IF he gets drafted he has a spot guaranteed because he GOT DRAFTED, if he doesnt get dradted then he is on a waiting list, and if there is still room then he gets on a team.
is that correct Chris???
