Anyone know how many 9's get drafted in a year? How many were drafted this year?

Yes Craig,
I agree with you about being a better player about playing against or competing against better players (older ones). In a perfect world or perfect program that would be ideal for our young players. If we face reality in our programs we are lucky to have 1/2 players who can compete. Yes, the book says, "9-12's". If our programs are very low on numbers and our boards decided to go with 9's then yes that would be the direction to go but again with safety first in mind. I have the highest respect for you and what you have done for your sons. Not everyone has the time or the knowledge that you have to teach and program their players as you have done. Great job Craig, well done. Yes, there are going to be expectations such as a Kramer or a Cumberland and others. But in reality how many of those players are really available. Obviously it is up to the board to make that decision. We were very lucky to have Mario to coach our son. Mario was a good coach for all the players. But that was many years ago and times are different now. Stronger, wiser and some cases bigger players. No, like most of us I do not like for parents to dictate to our programs about where their players should go. If the programs would decide to go with 9's, then yes I would support them and the parents would have to wait and see where the cards fall. Good luck with your team.

Bubba -
I have not heard how many 9 year olds were drafted in the N/NS program. Through out the district some programs do draft the 9 year olds. While others will separate their's. Some will place 9-10's in the minors and place 11-12's in the majors. It is a league decision. The manual and rule book is a recommendation for each program to use their judgment for what is best in their programs but must stay in the fine guide lines through out most of the rules. I hope that this was helpful.
