i mean to each his own and at the younger ages there may be a need for a "team" to have a LHC but my point is that the kid will more than likely be set back simply because as he gets older he wont play catcher, unless maybe he is at a Division 7 or lower HS that is in desparate need of some1 who can catch.
but other than that to me i think it is setting a kid back making him concentrate at a position that he wont be playing in the future

I always thought about turning things around, having the batter run to third (which would become the new first) and second would still be second, but first would now be third...
That way you would need a lefty Shortstop, third basemen, and second basemen. That would be an interesting game.
